Well, Oilers players did say in pre-season that it was Stanley Cup or bust. Looks like they've chosen bust.
I'm genuinely curious how EDM will try to salvage the season. They can't just give it up, it's not even December. What options do they have though? Brutal situation to find a team even with McDavid in tow.

Sell whatever is left of their farm and do hockey trades (no cap) to improve the defense and leadership at a lost because the players they want to dump all have terrible multi-years contracts outside of Foegele and that $2.75m won't be enough.

But the most likely thing is that Holland will do nothing, because he knows any improvement now won't be enough to make the playoffs this year.

I can’t say enough what an incredible player Crosby is.

The guy just doesn’t slow down. I bet he’ll still be getting 100pts when hits 40 years old.

A true legend in the making
If he didn’t miss all that time I’m certain he would crack 2000 points by the end of his career

I'd take Foegele and Ceci and whatever other junk they have for a price... but we have nothing to offer that'll seriously improve their team. They need another Ekholm-type. A reliable, proven, experienced player... and they need him for F, D, and G.

Savard is not good enough. Matheson is not what they need. Allen is a terrible goaltender. What can we offer them? Nothing that'll help their roster.

He's doing it with a ton of wear and tear on him too and diminishing abilities. Say what you will about the guy, but he really ''gets'' the game at the fundamental level.

Hopefully Lucic is out of the league for good. He's a cheap shot artist and was encouraged by poor officiating and poor league (non)-disciplinary action.
He’s out of control. It’s more worrisome to think about what he may do to those in his life and/or to himself.

Is it CTE, something else — at least he has multiple resources immediately available to him unlike most others exhibiting this type of behaviour. Hopefully, he avails himself of them. Hockey is the least of his worries.

I heard a rumor that the NHL held something called a Global Series in Sweden over the past few days which included 4 of it's teams but I haven't seen it confirmed. :sarcasm:

Great job promoting that and making it easily available for hockey fans to watch NHL. Bravo..

Hopefully when the dinosaurs currently running the NHL finally step aside the league will look to finally make the move to try and catch up with the other pro leagues in North America to make games more available to watch and to finally move into this century. It's the NHL though so who am I trying to kid.

Uncle Gary has lined up all of his megalomaniac owners’ pockets, plenty.

Let’s not give them more ideas on how to ramp up their profits. Next thing you know, they’ll start littering their teams’ uniforms and equipment with ads.

Oh, wait …

IKR? I legit didn’t know until yesterday afternoon, and I live in Toronto where the Leafs are participating in this.

I swear it's like the NHL don't even want people to watch their product with the stupid blackouts and not making more games available for the more casual fan to watch with their current TV packages.

I also just noticed that on 2 nights this upcoming week there are 0 games scheduled. I can see doing it on American Thanksgiving as to not compete with the NFL but why also no games on Tuesday making it twice in a week with 0 games scheduled. :dunno:They then have 14 games scheduled for Wed and 15 games scheduled for Fri.

I'd hate to comment on a player's personal incident but Lucic is one of the players I've hated the most in all of my life watching hockey. A mean-spirited bully, exceptionally dirty, dumb, angry. I'm not happy someone was victimized by him off the ice but I sure am satisfied knowing his reputation is ruined and has caught up with his actions.

None of this is new, he's had multiple incidents like this before. If anyone still cheers for the guy at this point they already should have known he's a f***ing piece of shit and they accept it for whatever reason.

I nominate you to be their next schedule maker. Unlike the people running things now, you’re making sense.

Patrick laine scratched tonight. Wow.
Looking more and more that Laine and Dubois, who were traded for each other, were clear overrated head cases.

At least Calgary got something decent in return for PLD -let’s see how this plays out for Columbus

I haven't followed Columbus much, but they tried him at center, he got injured (concussion) and now apparently he's a lazy bum and he's getting health scratched. That's quite the year and not even 20 games into the season.

Also, he's probably not fully recovered from his concussion...

Wonder if that will hurt Vincent.

It’s one thing to send a message to veterans but doing it constantly this early in the season is not the way to go. It could really hurt his reputation among the players.
