Love it for the drama - can't wait to watch them both duck the Boston crew.

Brady gave up on Ottawa #captain.

He did. Sens worked out they had attached their cart to the wrong horse and are now taking the short-term step back in the hope of it paying off for the better down the road. Risky but it's probably their best option.

But that's not Florida's problem. They have a proven record of getting the best out of their players and smoothing over any issues, and they won't even have to work hard to get the most from Brady. Less pressure on him now for a start. Fully expect he'll be a weapon for them.

Wouldn't put the bros on the same line though, not as a default anyway. In the Olympics they were too slow together.

Florida now has traded away 8 straight 1st round picks. :amazed:

2022 - to Buffalo as part of the Sam Reinhart trade ( 28th overall )
2023 - to Montreal ( later traded to Colorado ) as part of the Ben Chariot trade ( 31st overall )
2024 - to Philadelphia ( later traded to Edmonton ) as part of the Claude Giroux trade ( 32nd overall )
2025 - to Calgary as part of the Matthew Tkachuk trade ( 32nd overall )
2026 - to Ottawa as part of the Brady Tkachuk trade ( 9th overall )
2027 - to Chicago as part of the Seth Jones trade ( top 10 protected )
2028 - to Boston for Brad Marchand
2029 - to Ottawa as part of the Brady Tkacuk trade ( top 10 protected )

Their last 1st round pick was Mackie Samoskevich in 2021 who was traded today for part of the package that ended up going to Ottawa as part of the Brady Tkachuk deal.

That deal make's sense for both teams.

Tkachuk's and Marchand on the same team is wild.

Although, Florida badly needs a goaltender. They don't go to the Final 3 years in a row if they have a Tarsov type caliber goaltender. Interested to see how they handle the net.

The Atlantic division can be spicy next season. Robertson wants $14M, Dallas is unwilling to pay him more than Rantanen.

I guess you don’t need the picks when everyone wants to waive their NMC to play for you.

Maybe Sens weren’t enjoying Tkachuk as much as they said?
So, it's my understanding that he did not ask for a trade, but he also wasn't interested in signing an extension. That combined with all the media attention on him staying or going led Ottawa's management to decide to cash out now when they can get the most for him, so they asked him for a list of teams he'd be willing to go to.

I think he was always going to try to go play with his brother when he got his UFA status, just like I think Quinn Hughes is going to try to go play with his brother when he's a UFA.

Yup.
Bruins fans who hate Florida are just jealous because they have a team that most B's fans secretly dream about. Marchand, both Tkachuks, Bennett, Reinhart, Verhaege and Barkov? C'mon.

Anybody who says otherwise is lying.
I don’t know if I’d put it quite like that, but it would be nice to have an ownership and management that were capable of putting a team like that together.

I would not cheer for a team with the Tkachuks.

And Brad was a bad captain.

You’re partly right.

But there are many other reasons to hate them on top of the jealousy.

Also I like a lot of their guys. But the Tkachuks aren’t two of em. And for the love of f***, I could never cheer for the POS that is Sam f***ing Bennett.

Hot take - this doesn't make them that much better and getting an elite goalie would have done more to help the panthers win games/the cup.
