Don't think we'll have to worry about that. I'm sure we'll go dumpster diving for replacement level bottom pairing/4th line guys on one of the worst teams in the league like we did this year. Or we'll give up a guy like Rees for 10 games of a bottom pairing guy. Or we'll panic and trade a 1st for a meh nondescript player.
There's the glass-half-empty hot take we all love from the main Canes boards...or, more likely, Tampa + Kucherov is by far the best team in the league and it simply isn't our time yet to make noise. Also, I liked the Hakanpaa pickup, thought he played well, and I think he probably re-signs a short-term deal.
As far as the Coleman and Goodrow trades were concerned, they were incredible deals for Tampa. I don't think that any other team, however, should've given up that sort of a package for either. Tampa was a historically-good regular season team the season before. They really did not need much at all to turn that club into a championship one. Tampa truly was a couple of role players away from greatness. If I'm realistic, as good as I think that our Canes are and can be, IMO they're one core piece away from being Tampa-good. Perhaps Necas and/or Svech are going to be those guys, and they certainly seems to be on-track to be that. Canes do have the advantage of time, since both are really, really young.
