Wait a hot second……is that our very own Dale Tallon wonder kid Alex Petrovic playing for Dallas?????

Yes. Dallas is a very good team, but the #1 reason I think they're beatable is that their defensive strength is entirely stacked at the top. Heiskanen and Tanev are legitimately incredible. Down at the bottom they have potatoes like Petrovic.

Hilariously, this is somehow what would happen.
Ngl ive been impressed how well oilers limit shots

Not sure if dallas is a super high shot team but i figured theyd have more.

Shots against for oilers have been super low all playoffs, but i figured the 1-3-1 kings and the canucks focusing on defense hard to protect their third string goalie was the reason.

Dallas isn't really a volume shot team. The big thing I'd worry about for Dallas right now is that if Tanev is seriously injured, I think they're f***ed. They're incredibly deep at forward, but really can't afford any injuries on D.

Random thought exercise I did. Distance between opponents for the stars vs us (this is the distance for one trip in miles according to Google, I didn’t multiply this by how many times they had to make the trip):

Dallas to Vegas - 1,220 miles (7 games)
Dallas to Colorado - 817 miles (6 games)
Dallas to Edmonton - 1,953 miles…yikes

Ft Lauderdale to Tampa - 248 miles (5 games)
Ft Lauderdale to Boston - 1,471 miles (6 games)
Ft. Lauderdale to New York - 1,259 miles

I don’t know how much the flying alone will take a toll on either team but if the western conference finals goes 7 that’s a lot of miles flown between Dallas and Edmonton

So, you're saying a matchup for us with DAL is preferred to EDM when travel is considered. Did you do those maths?

I didn’t just because I know flying to Edmonton would be way worse. Looking it up now, Ft. Lauderdale to Dallas is 1,287 miles. Ft. Lauderdale to Edmonton is apparently 2,998 miles :help: I’m not sure how much that matters and it would apply to both teams, just a random thought exercise because I was curious

IMO, each team has two players they simply can't afford to lose in this playoff run. Edmonton: McDavid, Draisatl. Dallas: Hesikanen, Tanev.

Looks like Dallas just lost Tanev, and I'm suddenly much less bullish on the Stars than I was yesterday. When Petrovic isn't even the worst D in your lineup, you're about to have real problems.

I think Edmonton is a worse matchup from a travel perspective, due to the time zone. Most of the games will be played at 8pm local time. I think it's pretty obviously better to play a game at the equivalent of 6pm for you (Oilers in Sunrise) than 10pm (Panthers in Edmonton)
