Edmonton went back to the zone defense that got them dismantled in the playoffs. Woodcroft was trying to get them to move into a hybrid / man defense system and forgot about the part where you actually have to win games to get into the playoffs first. A little similar to what happened with the Panthers last season with Maurice, IMO.
I guess they won't have to rely on Buddy Robinson, at least.

but just 1, 2 or 3 and as you said, the same few teams. it's odd but I suppose the idea is to allow most of the league to get a full week while still having games available for the general hockey nuts and giving the impression that the league isn't yet shut down for AW weekend. I assume the few teams playing this week will have next week off. interesting.

It seems like a lot, but if it means a long playoff run the Canucks then that will be cool. Vancouver is amazing during a playoff run (minus when they riot when they lose the final lol).
