Goonberdeau

Weegar received a bit of a late hit by Roslovic. Prior to the boarding, huberdeau was roughing roslovic up a bit on the same shift. Not sure if that's why Huby did what he did but thought it was interesting context.

Did you guys see the Brendan Gallagher hit on Pelech? Bruins fans who defended Charlie McAvoy for his after-the-whistle drive-bys in there calling it the dirtiest play they've ever seen.

Feels like a Tallon Matheson special with the 8 year term.

I see some calling him a 30 goal winger, even though he hasn't hit 30 yet and is projected to hit 31 this year. 18 goals on the season.

Good for him, but dang.

If he gets 6.2 over 8 for potential, RIP the Reinhart deal lol

Or a Calculator Ekblad special. Nevertheless, the Flyers probably think that they have to overcommit because of difficulty to retain talent in the next few years when their top prospect want to get traded.

I think it's a pretty fair deal for both sides, he needs to work on that defense a bit but he's got potential to be a 25-30 goal, 60ish pt player for a while so good for Tipp.

imo it's a very good deal if he consistently scores 60pts.

Ya I don't see why he can't?
Has been mostly glued to Couturier all year and Frost sometimes.
He shoots a ton and we all can see why.

I still like his overall makeup offensively, willing to throw a hit, can carry the puck in transition, above average passing ability and 30+ goal wrister.

He would have got around $5.25 million in Florida on 8 years. We don't have the room anyhow, our RW depth is actually one of our strong points.

I'd say Tippet's deal puts more risk on the team than on the player and it's one of those deals that won't break your cap but gives no value. Fine if he keeps performing and if a team has some of these types of contracts, but it won't get them closer to competing.

I'm happy for Tippett. Only thing I will say is that you can't afford to keep that many goal-scorers, and we already have Reinhart and Verhaeghe coming up for paydays. Both players I prefer to Tippett.

So I'm not real upset about losing him. It's disappointing, yes, but not terribly so.

would have loved him here.. we really dropped the ball budgetwise not keepign giroux.. i think we had a shot but had 0 money..

i will always understand and hate the outcome of that run

I try to think of it in broader terms beyond just that season. The team was a wagon in the regular season, Zito was a newish GM, and we had a still interim coach. I think of those Giroux and Chiarot trades as the cost of learning.

Zito gave that team all it needed to compete and was rewarded with a dud playoffs. But that gave him the information he needed to make a decision on Huber, Weegar, and Bruno plus the justification to move on from them. Without doing those Giroux/Chiarot deals, maybe there's an excuse the team didn't get all the help it could from the management.

So yeah in a vacuum those trades sucked, but we aren't where we are today without those trades. No Tkachuk, no Maurice, no cup run, etc. We're such a different team now and compete hard all the time, but it was a process to get here that I think it started with that crappy playoff.

It's still there. Maybe you hid it by accident?
Yeah, there is an “ignore thread” button. Maybe hit it by accident. Anyone know how to un-ignore a thread?
