Blue Jay Way..
I was watching Calgary's game the other night.
Someone was gonna hit Ruby. He gave up the puck to avoid getting hit, and the player turned around and scored.

Such a bad look for him!

Boy, Huby is going for the all time worst contract of all time with his effort.

Looks pretty clear to me that he has no desire to be there. He’s trying to crap his way outta Calgary the way PLD did Columbus. IMHO

He can't, that contract is un-f***ing-tradeable. If he really wants to get out of Calgary, he's going to have to negotiate a mutual exit from that contract. It's 80 million dollars, he ain't gonna do that. Calgary is stuck with him.

Here's the thing that's insane: I don't think it's an effort problem.

Yup. He's just a one-trick pony in the most niche category in hockey and he got Cheechoo-lucky with the Panthers. As soon as Huby got traded I did mention the Panthers dodging a huge bullet with that trade. Frenchfries future altering trade by Zito.

It'll be interesting to see what'll happen next but ppl do not seem to grasp the idea that Huberdeau wanted to sign with the Flames and he wasn't forced to do it at gunpoint by his agent. He wanted that dough and responsibility so I'm not sure why think he wants out. He's just a lousy player who thrives in an environment where he doesn't have to do the heavy lifting by himself.

I said it when the trade was made, Calgary couldn't get over the hump with Chucky and they trade for 2 losers in Huberdeau and Weegar and think that's what'll get them over the hump? It was insane they extended them. Treliving actually got a nice haul and could have moved them at the TDL and instantly rebuilt the Flames. Like maybe 2 down years. But they let a GM on his last chance make franchise altering signings like the Panthers did with Tallon and Bob. Dumb move set them back.

The Tallon comparison is very apt.

Weegar is doing well in Calgary. He's a good player. Their fans seem happy with him.

Along with DAL, wondering if ARI would have interest in Ekblad in July?
They could crack open the wallet long term for help on defense.
Lamoureux is a decent looking D prospect.

We could snag some decent prospects/fringe players and a good pick, moving out his cap space to pay others and allow for more graduates from Charlotte like Kinnunen, Carlsson, Benning etc. Or another Mikkola type add if all of Reinhart, Forsling and Montour can't be kept financially.
