I disagree. Yes, you can agree not to trade someone if you value them higher, but the market sets the price because you can't trade with yourself.

It's very simple: to trade, you need a partner (the market). If the market does meet your price, there is no trade, unless there is other factors. Ignoring the market's evaluation makes no sense.

Your example also shows the flaws in your argument. The Vancouver Canucks likely wouldn't value Hutson as highly as others because they already have Quinn Hughes. Therefore the market (the Canucks in this example) sets the price they are willing to pay. Now of course the Habs can decline, but if they want to trade Hutson and the only place he'd be willing to go is Vancouver, the Canucks set the price.
It's fine, you don't have to put up your rankings. It's okay not to have an opinion.

Even in beer league (where there is always one or more meatheads on every team just because it's hockey), having the toughest guy on the ice and one who can snap at any moment allows others to play their game with more confidence.

Arber's fight last night when down 2-0 added life to the Habs and to the crowd.
Yep thats momentum changer for sure!

They aren't trading Demidov for anything less than a Mcdavid level player. They know how excited the market is for him. It would be a PR disaster if they did that.

Non Hab homers have rated him the best prospect not in the NHL. That means something.

TT would be cool obviously but not at the expense of a Demidov.
Uou aren’t getting Tage without Demi goin the other way.

Its steep and it would hurt. But easier to find a top-6 winger to replace Demidov than find a 1C in his primw .with a cap friendly longbterm contract

Irrelevant. You evaluate talent. Would you trade McDavid before he got to the NHL: because he hadn't proven anything.
He proved enough by playing game #1 straight after being drafted. Demidov has not seen international competition yet if I'm not mistaken so the context is not the same. You can not do the same evaluation, nor could they have played him straight after being drafted.

Like I said at the beginning of my first post, the premise of this thread's value rankings of players is flawed.

Yes, it's a fun exercise, but the value depends on how the trade partner values the players based on their specific needs. So I can add which players I think are more valuable to the Habs, but that would have no bearing on their actual market value without knowing all the factors involved

Tage Thompson did have 94 points two years ago. Also players seem to do even better when they leave Buffalo. I just think the Habs would rather keep Demidov during his ELC years and add a top-6 center by moving other assets even if that center isn't as high-end as Thompson.

Also, Demidov seems to be a perfect fit with the personality profile the Habs look for and are building around.

There is no Anthony Davis available in trade.

1C is the most valuable position.
It's not. The best players tend to be number one centers but I'd much rather a supserstar winger than a 1C. Always take the more talented player.

And there's no way we should look at trading Demidov for anyone right now. Gavin Mckenna or Bedard or Celebrini... he's in that elite group of prospects.

One thing I'd disagree with @Goldenhands on though, I think you have to rank Hutson over Demidov at least for now. Hutson's already proved he can dominate at the NHL level. As talented as Demidov may be, we can only hope he's as good as Hutson's been.

Like I said at the beginning of my first post, the premise of my or this thread's rankings of players being how the market values them is flawed. Yes, it's a fun exercise, but the value depends on how the trade partner values the players based on their specific needs.
We're establishing how the fan base values their own trade chips, not how the other teams value them. That should be done on the main board if and when needed. When we don't know how to value our own pieces, it just yields ass proposals like Beck, Mailloux, 1st for the other teams' #1 Centers.

Not a lot of fans here understand that the #7-#10 pieces are no more than B prospects not worth much.

While both Strubs and Xhakej are playing good hockey right now, it sucks for Arber because his right side is getting exposed every 2 shift that he is on the ice since Savard is not even AHL caliber right now.

Arber brings something that only he can. Strubs is bringing lots of physicality too. But the best example that Strubs physicality isn’t as respected as xhakej’s is him getting crosschecked to the jaw right after 2 decent hit. I’d bet with anyone that Coyle wouldn’t have pull that p***y act on Arber.

With that said, only Hutson and Reinbacher are untouchable. 25-26 I’d go with;

Hutson X
Guhle Carrier
Xhakej Reinbacher

Although Guhles multiples injuries are worrisome, we still have Engstrom knocking. Matheson and Strubs are the odd men out to upgrade our right side. I bet that Strubs value is pretty good too now that Hutson makes him look like a top4 LHD.

If that is the case I don't want TT.

Id trade way less assets for a guy like Chandler Stephenson and keep Demidov and probably be better off.

Demidov + Stephenson>> TT

good thing we have one in Suzuki. Trading Demidov, who isn't just a point producer but a dynamic, franchise-changing forward, who would get to play with our 20-yo franchise-changing D in Huston, would be so incredibly foolish.

Fowler would be the used as a trade asset before Hage for me.
We have a lot of promising goalies in the system and if a team is willing to overpay, I am parting ways with him.
Goalies however do not have high value so doubt we get what we want.

I am gonna get a lot of hate for that but if we are targeting a decent 2C, Ghule is the most valuable asset to move. I think we will regret trading Hage and the numerous injuries scares me with Ghule. I wouldn't count on him to play 82 games. I would try and flip him while he still has high value.
The recent stretch shows the team can compete without him.
I don’t know. I think Fowler is as close to untouchable as you can get. He’s just a gamer that will find ways to win games. I think he has that X factor that all of the great goalies do. The type of goaltender that lets in a bad goal and challenges himself to not let it happen again.

Hage had nice stats but he has a lot of work to do himself before I see an NHL 2C. That great speed, cut from outside to inside move, and success on the PP. He needs to add more than that to his repertoire.
