Ottawa wins a game Series 3-1 MTL.

What do you think accounts for this drop off in DLR's play?

I'm not certain whether I think he's not playing as well, or if he's just sticking to his defensive responsibilities even more cuz it's the playoffs.

PAP could be the answer. He could also very well make things a lot worse if he replaces DLR.

When you see other players who can't do **** get better ice time, better zone starts, etc. You'd get discouraged too.

I don't know, but DLR is literally doing nothing offensively right now. He doesn't even attempt to make a play. He just dumps it in and let's his linemates chase it or he quickly sends the puck back into the cycle when the cycle comes his way. I don't know if it's because he doesn't want to make a mistake, or if he's being told to do that, or if he's just overmatched, but the Habs needs goals. I don't think switching DLR for PAP will hurt the Canadiens defensively as much as it might benefit them offensively (don't know if that make sense).

Sad but true. :(

Thank god MT has DD with his 2 goals and 10 assists in 31 career playoff games to throw out there as his top offensive center and his go to center on the PP. :shakehead

Why care about the results of DD when it's all about the moral victories. Hard work, "intangibles", cap hit. He'll never produce like Kane, so we should settle for less even if it costs us a playoff series. Don't optimize for production, be satisficing.

One step at a time friend.

TBH I'd be perfectly fine with him being on the 3rd line left wing so line ups like this

Pac-Chucky-Gally

DSP-Plekanec-Weise

DD-Eller-DLR

Prust-Mitchell-Flynn

PP lines

Pac-Chucky-Gally

Markov-Subban

DSP-Plekanec-Weise

Eller-Petry

:amazed::amazed::amazed: But MT would think I'm from a different planet.

Problem is that PAP is on a decline offensively. I think Andrighetto should get the call. He'll probably at least be hungry.

Habs centers faceoff % tonight. You'd think the guy who was @ 71% would've gotten to take a key offensive zone draw at least once tonight but nope.

Pleks - 44%
DD - 46%
Mitchell - 33%
Eller - 71%

You'd serious risk having Eller catch the DD plague?

#Therrien

Its astounding how much this guy ***** on Eller

LOL Pacioretty is getting a lot of heat but that second line of Galchenyuk, Gallagher and Plekanec was the worst thing I've seen all season.

Gallagher was ok, pleky was bad and Galchenyuk was horrible easily the worst of our top 6.

For whatever reason, there isn't anything Eller can do at this point to get an increase in anything. He scored in game one and has since seen his usage diminish gradually. He played 12 minutes tonight. yeesh.

And it's not just this series, it's been happening for two years. He couldn't even get PP time last year leading the fowards in points. MT played Vanek on every line, including the 4th line before trying him with Eller in the POs. He only put them together in the 3rd period of the final game. It's just how it rolls.

Sure MT won't sit him out a game when he is playing bad, but he won't throw him a bone when he is playing well either.

This was bound to happen. We won like 6 games in a row going back to the regular season. We lost a very tight game. It's a real shame Carey didn't get the W, he was brilliant.

Reminds me of the Boston 1-0 win last playoffs. Nothing to fear, we'll get them next time

I hated Gallagher's play today, he tried to be something he's not all night. Galchenyuk was alone in the slot and he couldn't get him the puck. We get into the zone and instead of heading for the net he tries to do a stupid give and go only to lose the puck. It was a bad night but the two youngsters were extremely disappointing. Separating Chucky and Plecky wouldn't be the worse thing...zero chemistry.

Therrien has childish preconceptions that blind his judgment. He already leaked it himself to the public that he thought Eller and Sekac had no skill....what a dipstick.

It's amazing how our lineup (at least top 6) is so badly matched. Like in that version of EA NHL where it tells you when lines are set badly. 3 very good players, had all season to show what they could do together. Amazing that this continues. Oh wait, it's not THAT amazing. I am not amazed.

No doubt the series ends at the Bell Centre on Friday.
