They use % to determine $... this is not a hard concept.

It’s not a hard concept at all.

It’s just not how contracts work in the NHL. Teams are not obligated to maintain the same cap % for the players. They negotiate in $$

If an agents wants to play that game, you just counter with Marner’s cap percentage never lowered over the life of his previous contract due to flat cap.

So he maintained a higher percentage than he should have for 6 years or whatever.

But I wouldn’t play those games, I’d tell him he hasn’t won any hardware and that’s why he isn’t going to make $12.5m. McDavid and Matthews and Mackinnon, etc all have hardware

Comparables aren't done in $ amounts... McDavid would be making 8.7 right now...

That’s not really true.

Star but not superstar players get 14-15% of the cap.
