OK, good to know. But, he wasn’t playing in the game which is what I thought (?) the discussion was about.
Well, I guess the way I was interpreting it was if we played Mantipalo because we thought he was better than JBD and this was the best lineup we could ice, then JBD isn't "missing", for example if Zub was healthy, and we took JBD or Hamonic out, we wouldn't say they were missing.

OK. That’s another way of looking at it I suppose - not vitally important one way or another. With regards to Mantipalo, I’m glad he got into the game. I’ve been curious about what he could do if he was given a chance. Same idea for Guenette I suppose.

When you have injuries, it's next man up. You find out about your depth.

I’d ride Merilainen as much as possible until Ullmark is ready to return.

whats the point of a forum if you can discuss the team?

This is the same mentality of people saying why would ottawa look to tweak their roster when we were on a 6 game heater....its cause the goal is to win the cup so discussing issues with the roster even if they are winning games is valid
You can discuss the team, they played a great game last night,

exactly they played a good game. There is nothing wrong with people in the thread during the actually play saying things like we got lucky with a bunch of posts or critiquing parts of the play

Here's an idea;

Enjoy the Win .. reading these threads the day after is funny enough stuff to make a tv show out of

Some posters could play the part of that daughter on Family Matters who in a particular episode walked up the stairs to her bedroom and was never heard from or spoken of again.

(not really, I just always found that factoid to be hilarious)

We were the better team despite the posts, but a few of those post and out shots going in probably shifts the narrative about how we, and in particular Merilainen, played. We'd be hearing about how awful our breakdowns were and it cost us, and how bad goaltending was.

It's a game of inches,

That's funny, because I think they lead the team in xGF% for whatever that's worth.
It’s worth a lot. Eye test isn’t always right.

Waive Forsberg. #2 spot belongs to Leevi now.
Well, we need Forsberg while Ullmark is out but I agree that Leevi should take Soogard's place. Wonder what the organization will do next year now that they've given Soogard a one-way contract? Unless Soogard improves immensely, Leevi is the much better goalie even though he's 2 years younger.

Good things happen when the other coach decides not to match up his good players against our 3rd pairing.
I thought the 3rd pairing played well. Maybe the fact they played together in Belleville is a factor.

Looked better but the real test will be against better lines like Winnipeg has. Dallas will be interesting
Hope they send Soogard back to Belleville when Forsberg returns. Then go with Leevi for Dallas. If Forsberg is back, give him the Blues game. Then decide who to put in for Detroit based on their play. Seniority should not factor in.

This is a playoff team if we just roll with Ullmark and Leevi for the rest of the season.

Put Zub in for Hamonic, then Perron in for Gregor or Gaudette and then we cooking.

Also that f***ing terrorist Dorion deserves to be trialed in The Hague for his crimes of giving away 2 bona fide #1 young stud goalies in Gus and Daccord for nothing. What a f***ing loser.

Could really use one of those guys right now.
I'd keep Gregor over Gaudette. Gaudette's scoring has dried up. Gregor's speed and his skill on the PK makes him more valuable IMO. Glad to see no one's saying to get Cousins out of the line-up anymore. He's been rock solid.

A must win game and they game through! Team defense is really coming through for us in this strong run that we are on.

It was a stinker to lose against the Jets, a game that we should've won. I solely blame the goalie for letting in a softie that tied the game 2-2 and it was all down hill from there. When i started the highlights, all I was hoping for the goalie to not give in a soft goal and we will surely win the game, and that is exactly what he did on the 2nd goal, and that is when I knew that we are not winning the game

This Team is also lacking a lot of offensive fire power, that was somewhat apparent against the Oilers and the Jets.

We really need Stutzle to shift gear and gain that form he had in the 2nd half of his 90pt season.

Batherson is slowly cooling off and Tkachuk is being very streaky this season

and I would really appreciate if Norris, Giroux and Pinto can maybe contribute a bit more offensively, as well

This team is so much better when they throw hits all over the ice. Having Brady with Into and Greig really set the tone.
