There was a moment late in the 3rd, i had turned my head away from the screen for a second, and when i looked back i saw a Sens players carrying the puck through centre ice. I was wondering who it was and then saw that unmistakable skating style, oh its Stu. And as he crossed the blue line i noticed, no wait, its Pinto. Just a momentary flash.

Do like seeing the defensive identity forming. Keep getting stronger.

Sure but Kaprisov is a difference maker. Easier to replace Ullmark (evidently) than a hart candidate.
That’s not really how it works. They could have had their best forward, and we could have had our best goalie.

Most Sens fans should know by now how difficult it is for us to replace the level of goaltending that Ullmark has been providing.

A star out for both teams just evens things out.

Sens on a road trip from hell playing with their third string goalie on a second game of a back to back.
Again, the point was that when framing this game as one where the odds were against us (back to back, against their starter, on the road against a top t team) we can and should acknowledge they were without their heart and soul player.

It was a great win, acknowledging they didn't have the guy on pace for 120 pts in the lineup seems reasonable though.

Example, see what Hellebucyk did against two hart candidates in McDavid & Draisatl during the playoffs.

I would wager when a goalie on hot, which Ullmark was, he would be the biggest X factor in most games.

To be fair, our best goalie doesn't really change the outcome tonight (maybe we get the shutout?) but Kaprisov is a game breaker and they were really missing him

I'm not trying to suggest we weren't missing important pieces, Zub and Ullmark are huge parts of the team, and while I might be in the minority, I think we really miss Perron and Amadio, we've been playing great in tough circumstances and credit where it's due for that.

Earlier in the year, we weren't taking advantage of teams missing key pieces, it's nice to see us flip that script.

At this point are we really missing Perron?

Can't really miss someone that has never been here. His cap hit has been about as well used as a buy out tbh.

He's barely played but I thought he was good when he did despite no points to show for it, Zub has only played 3 more games but everyone is quick to point out how great it would be for him to be back and push Hamonic out of the top 4.

i mean here is a big difference between getting our top 2 rd back vs Perron who is probably a 3rd liner and looked slow when he did play

I like him, hope he can be Zub 2.0 for us (not the same player, but a ufa out of Europe) but they were pretty sheltered tonight so I wouldn't read too much into that.
That’s pretty great coaching if that’s the case. Hard to shelter that hard on the road
