GDT: Ottawa Senators at NJ Devils - 7PM - Sportsnet / TVAS2 - Winning is NOT an Option Edition

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Hate to admit it, but I think the reason we are having issues against MTL is that they are faster than us and we aren't or haven't been physical enough playing them. I think we have more talent
I think we aren't playing hard enough to beat them because it's better to stay healthy than to win one game against them. That said I am pretty sure we would beat them in a playoff series.

This is a team that hasn't made the playoffs in 7 seasons so it was always going to be a bit of a rollercoaster. The team had been playing sound defense for most of the season and now that they're in a wildcard spot we're seeing some slippage and some teams incredibly desperate jockeying for positioning in the standings.

Hoping they can hold on and make the playoffs and mentally reset when they clinch. It's also an important building block for next season.

I was firmly behind the "win by any means necessary" policy, but that third period got really dicey. Very fortunate they didn't tie it up late there. Can't do that against the Sabres next game. As bad as they've been, they've creamed us the past two times we've played them.

That's what worries me. Overall, we're a kinda slow team. We do have some guys who can move, but it's inconsistent and don't always utilize their speed all that well.

The playoffs when everything goes up a notch is going to be one hell of an eye opener for this team.

They were skating circles around Devils team for 2 periods when they needed to.
Watching this team defend leads in the 3rd period is planting the seeds for my future blood pressure issues lol
They are literally the best in the league at defending the leads in the 3rd period.

I like the new lines but the 4th is still a mess. Will look better once Cousins is back, but we need a better option at 4C. I don't think moving Greig back will be a good idea either, but they may have to.

You listen to the Habs broadcast and it is pretty obvious they have the good announcers(ok Galley sucks but he's better than whoever was doing our color stuff) and they actually want Montreal to win. Our two bozos barely seemed to care lol.

I'm all for neutrality but when I started the highlights I thought it was the NJ feed until they specifically said Hockey Night in Canada

The problem with the Habs is they have talent on the way. They are only going to get better from here.
Not really.

They have replacement level talent on the way with the exception of Demodov.

Do they have an upgrade on their 1C?

An upgrade on their top pair D?

I don't think so.

Game plan wasnt complicated, get the puck deep and huck it to the front of the net and battle that weak ass NJ team in the slot for pucks and we kicked their ass.

I think Ridley Greig has led the Sens forwards in TOI for all games except one since the Norris trade. Dude stepping up, you see how the contract gave Staois the stability to move Norris knowing Green had a dude he could plug into the Norris spot and do some of the face off and late game work Norris was doing.

Greig about to be a big name come playoff time. Teams can’t go 1 period without losing it on this guy, imagine having to deal with him every shift for 2 weeks - hateful murderous fireworks incoming, about to see grown ass men lose their shit and go Karen on our Ridly

The graphic when we saw a NJ player walking down the tunnel because of injury and then they cut to the NJ player on the ice bleeding from his face - Sens hockey.

Big bad Sens came to town - Keefe is taking the Dad bod thing way too seriously. There’s something about being a physically strong coach that Keefe does not have. Doesn’t feel tough and his team plays like a team led by a dude with a Dad bod. keefe first in line for the seafood buffet, last in line for Canadian playoff hockey

And how good does that win feel for Travis Green, let go by NJ and comes to Ottawa to deliver a big blow to his former team that looked soft, unable to play the hockey Ottawa wanted to play, uninspired and like they are a regular season team waiting for the playoff guillotine (it rhymes)

Congrat to Green, he has a Canadian hockey team you could take into any alley and they’d fight tooth and nail until they rang the bell. New Jersey looks like a trust fund team

Lol, big bad sens? Both those players got hit by pucks

Yeah but they didn’t take it like men who were winning hockey games, they already lost and they knew it. They looked defeated, they knew, we knew, Keefe knew, NJ fans knew - Ottawa is a bigger badder hockey team and NJ was losing that game
