Sanderson- Hamonic is bad but I expect it to be with Hamonic playing a top pair role. But holy crap the Chabot-Jensen pair is shocking.
It's worth noting Sanderson-Zub/Kleven-Hamonic vs Sanderson-Hamonic/Kleven-JBD is also FLA/MTL/LAK vs NJD/TBL/UTA/VGK/COL, I think the QOC in the later is a bit tougher tbh,

As for Chabot-Jensen, they are the only pair that has been consistently together, so they don't have the natural split between QOC for the opposition

split up Brady and Stutzle.

the best line we've put together in the last couple of years is

Brady-Norris-Batherson

not sure why they don't go back to it. they performed well enough to be a legit 1st line, which leaves Stutzle being your "2nd" line center. But really you would have two lines who on any day could be your 1st.

The best line we’ve had the last few years was Tkachuk-Stutzle-Giroux from 2022-2023.

Aside from that, right now, 19-9-28 are firing on all cylinders. I don’t see why we’d break them up. I’d definitely like to see someone better with Brady and Stutzle but G with Norris and Bath is working. Don’t stop now.

Besides, aren’t Tkachuk, Stutzle, Giroux, Norris and Batherson all on pace for their most productive seasons (as a senator for G) right now? Keep rotating the third wheel with Tkachuk and Stutzle until we find something that fits but don’t fix what ain’t broke.

Yeah, I want to see:

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Greig
Giroux-Norris-Batherson

Greig has more skill and upside than Gregor or Amadio.

What about leaving Greig or Ostapchuk as the matchup 3C and trying Pinto at RW with 7-18 when he returns?

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Pinto
Giroux-Norris-Batherson
Perron/Ostapchuk-Greig-Amadio
Cousins-Gregor-MacEwen

Pinto is definitely ideally suited at center but he’s got the pace, responsibility and shot to fit beautifully with Tkachuk and Stutzle as well. Maybe that gives them a better overall output?

I really don’t know how they didn’t address that RD position.

Although Jbd looks fine… he still seems like their second choice on the bottom pairing.

Who are you matching Greig and ostapchuk against? They’re not good enough to be matchup players

I don't see the point of this either.

Perron-Pinto-Amadio had excellent metrics when they were together. They make up an excellent shutdown line.

Ostapchuk isn’t ready now but I think Greig could do a decent job.

I do like that line too. I’m open to trying Greig on line one as well, just looking at all options.

Yeah I don't get that reluctance either. If you believe that Stutzle and Tkachuk are your best offensive players ... whats the harm in spreading that wealth around? Stutzle and Giroux have played together lots . . . give them a shot with whoever the hell else you want on the wing and see what happens.

I never said the sky was falling...so I'm not sure why you make it sound like such a gotcha. I'm taking issue with the statement "We're in better shape now than we've been in in years", which is an absurd take to have at this point. There's not much about this 4-4 record that says we're in better shape than we've been in a long time. 0 goal differential? Last year we were +6 at this same point. We didn't have Pinto in the lineup and Norris missed the first 4 games. This season, our PP is due for a statistical regression, which means we can expect even less offensive production. We have bottom of the barrel 5v5 offense and we continue to give up an alarming rate of goals despite upgrades on D and in nets. There's really no parts of our game that you can definitively point to and say "this projects well for the rest of the season".

I'm not saying the season is over, either. However, unless something significantly changes in the way they are playing it's not looking like we have the formula for success.
So, now we're plus 7. I assume with 6 goals tonight 5 on 5 that our numbers will look better. And we are getting secondary scoring. I think we're up to 10 on the season, above one per game.

The odd thing is if Cousins doesn't get the penalty in Vegas, and it was thin - we might be 6-3.

5v5 numbers are pretty much middle of the league now, 16th in xGF%, -1 Goal diff. Small samples means that one game really swings things, I was a bit surprised how much of a difference it made.

That cousins penalty was really frustrating, as was our performance against Colorado. Nice to bounce back.

I think we are doing a much better job weathering the injury bug than last few seasons. Before, Zub out meant everything went off the rails. Jensen has imo been the most important addition so far this year, that's in part because Ullmark has been injured and looked pretty average in a few of his games, I expect that to change though.

When Zub is back look out, the way Chabot and Jensen are coming together, Sanderson having the support to allow him to really take over shifts will really make us tough to play.
