Chychrun for Sanderson

I think value is probably fair for a 1 for 1 if not maybe slight add on one side. Ottawa needs to make the playoffs next year and start emerging from this rebuild. I’m sure they hate to loose a great prospect like Sanderson but you have to give to get. Chychrun is a really good defence man on a great contract. Also this proposal is made under the assumption Ottawa first tries to do a package of picks and prospects like Greig, Klevin and Sokolov but Arizona turns it down.

I get the POV but I'd keep Sanderson and hope he produces on his ELC, you have him under control a lot longer than Chych.
Feel they're may be a small add that needs to come from OTT side as well but the value in Sanderson is there.

I think LA will target Chychrun and they have C prospects + picks that get it done.

Sanderson haven't done anything yet , but it seems like a good start and it does make sense for Ottawa to get that piece.
Maybe Sanderson + 2nd or B prospect

It absolutely would NOT be 1:1 - Sanderson would definitely need to have other assets attached. Likely Ottawa’s 2nd and a highly regarded prospect a tier below Sanderson. If Chychrun was 3-4 years older, and his contract was 1.5-2x higher aav then Sanderson alone might be the return. Chychrun is so young and so cheap. There’s no chance a wholly unproven prospect is a 1:1 for him. Zero.

Chychrun is worth more than Eichel who is an absolutely mystery box with his neck and all that smoke and whispers surrounding his character.
Maybe. Eichel when healthy is one of the best hockey players on the planet, and it's looking more likely he'll be fine. Chychrun is a good top pair defenseman, but he's not in the same level of talent as Eichel.

No chance from Ottawa. Chychrun does not make sense as an add for us but even if he did, zero chance I trade Sanderson for him.

Ignoring the fact that I think Sanderson will be better (which I get is subjective and highly uncertain, so I basically discount it from the equation), Chychrun will be a UFA in 4 yrs. Ottawa needs to extend Stutzle, Norris, Pinto, Formenton, Zub (bigger need than Chychrun), and C. Brown in that time. Thats our top RD/#2D, and 4 of our top 6 fwds (and, realistically, probably 5 of our top 7). C. Brown might not be re-signed anyways. The last thing we can afford is an 8 x $8.5-$9.5m deal for 27yr old Chychrun.

Chychrun will return something fantastic, but it won't be from Ottawa - and, even if it was, it wouldn't be Sanderson.

I wouldn’t trade Sanderson. He could be a very steady, all game situations, minute munching type of defenseman for many years in Ottawa.

Sanderson would also be a lot cheaper on the cap in the short term, since Jake will be on ELC when he signs his first contract.

The Sens org and fans are in love with Sanderson, his trajectory has him starting in Sens top-4 in the first year of his ELC in 2022.

The Sens are not trading Sanderson for another LD, Chabot is already the top dog there. Ottawa is not a good trading partner for an LD which they have troves of.

I agree that this doesn't make sense for Ottawa.

Sens don't even consider trading Sanderson for Chychrun, let alone adding to him.

Value of Sanderson on a 3YR ELC then a long-term RFA deal far exceeds that of 3YRs of Chychrun, even if 4.6M is cheap for what he brings to the table.

Sanderson is about as safe a bet to be a future top 4 D as you will see. He's only unproven because he chose to go back to college for a year. I don't think it's unreasonable to think there's a good chance he'll be a better defenseman than Chychrun before the end of his ELC. He's that good.

I've been following the draft since 1996. I know all about 19 year old "safe bets". Trades like this don't happen.

I remember when Griffin Reinhardt was a safe bet to be a top pairing defenceman

Trading Sanderson for Chychrun makes zero sense from an Ottawa perspective. They should be looking at boosting their top six forwards then trading for a dman

Sanderson has massive potential and talent. Sens would be crazy to give him up. He might demote Chabot from #1D throne on the Sens.

Reinhart was the tenth ranked North American Skater that year. Scouts, other than maybe NYI, did not think he would be close to a top pairing. It goes to show why you have to be very cautious going far off board with such a high pick..

Not even close. And I'm high on Pinto.
don't think Arizona will get near a Sanderson level prospect

Just my take could be wrong and they could hold on to him if they want but if they are expecting that level of player then they will have to hold onto him

Why is that? You guys can only hope Sanderson reaches the level already shown By Chychrun. Who is locked up to a great contract and is what..23?

I don't see those two teams as trade partners here. For r4eason already stated
I also see Chychrun returning quite the haul for the Yotes
