Ottawa can still easily make the playoffs.
It's ok. I prefer to support and be optimistic about my team rather than cry, whine and complain about every little thing that isn't working out.
Optimism based on what?
It surely can't be based on anything they've actually DONE this year.
Sens are 13-12-6 at home. Not going to happen. Jersey, Tampa, NYR, Philli and even Columbus and Detroit will probably make it in above the Sens.
December 23 - February 6: 12-4-4 record
They've done it before and I think they can definitely do it again.
I wonder what would happen if I went in to my bosses office, and told him that I can't do my job properly because I am not getting enough positive reinforcement.
Poor from Holmes. You gotta embed the youtube video for full effect. Some of these youngsters probably have no idea what that picture references.
They can't even put a full 60 minutes together. You think they're basically going to run the table the rest of the season and get in to the playoffs?

Pass the pipe.
It's easy to put down the team, and those fans who still have hope.
It's easier to look at the odds and say it's pointless.
It's hard to cheer for a team with their backs against the wall.
It's harder to actually believe they can and will succeed.
IMO, this is what separates casual fans from the hardcore.
If you can't put your whole heart behind the team, how do you expect the players to?
We're going to win six games in a row? This team can barely string six periods in a row of good hockey. If we're lucky the team won't compeltely **** the bed and will be .500 the rest of the way. That's the only thing I am hoping for at this point.

Anyone who was a fan for those 4 playoff losses in a row to the Leafs, like myself, learned long ago how to deal with being let down in unbelievable fashion... this missing the playoffs is a cake walk compared to having your pride beat down to nothing like those 4 years.
I don't agree that believing in a team that's continued to play poorly is a really fair way to seperate casual fans from hardcore fans. Sometimes a team just isn't good.
This hasn't stopped me from watching the games, even the ones where we are getting smoked, because I enjoy watching my favourite team play.
Well said.
