Ottawa 67s 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

Sorry hit the reply button too many times - lol. Pretty happy with the selections so far. Some size, some speed and some centres! Now, for tomorrow and hopefully some more good outcomes. Congrats OMG on predicting Chitaroni would be a 67.

Believe me, the mute button is a beautiful thing.

I really like what they did tonight. A top flight, hard nosed C in Chitaroni who could slide into the top nine to start the season. Two big, smooth skaters on the back end and another fast, high scoring C. Looks like a good day.

It would be nice to get a high end Goalie and maybe an ‘08 or ‘07 who can help the team next year up front with the two early 4th round picks.

I’m sort of hoping we can get Vandenberg under contract. If we do, I think ends up in the 3C role. But, if we don’t get him, I am hoping we can make a move at the deadline with one of the OAs and free up the 3C role for Chitaroni in the 2nd half.

Chitaroni is a high pick so he may be able to nail down that 3C role from the start but more often than not, they slide into the 4th line centre until they are more comfortable. It allows the coach an opportunity to pick their spots better which is good. Or, maybe he plays on the wing in a top 9 role year one then slides into the centre role year 2 when he’s more mature.

Either way, I think we got a good one. Speedy centre with decent size that plays an uptempo game in all three zones. Plays the game the right way and doesn’t take shifts off. What else can you ask for? I’m just not concerned about his role next year. It would be great if he nailed down 3C out of camp and kept on rising from the start but if it doesn’t work out that way at the beginning, we gotta give him some time.

In fairness, I was just echoing what @OHL4Life had heard in his travels through the scouting community this week. Looked like it was going to be Delisle but sounds like he preferred to play with his brother in OS. Sure enough…. So, with Chitaroni and Delisle being so close in value, Boyd likely didn’t feel pushing the envelope was worth it. Even if Delisle was preferred, Chitaroni seems like a pretty good Plan B. I’m excited to see him gear up for the Poles this year!

Sounds like we got a big D-man (Johnson) that can move the puck a bit. Apparently he’s a kid that really kept improving steadily over the course of the year and handles the puck well for a kid 6’2”. So, it looks like he may be more of a project player. Get him into Tier II next year and keep him on track.
The 3rd pick (Campbell) an average sized D-Man that seems more offensive minded is another guy that likely plays Tier II next year. The 4th pick (Hayes) is a strong scoring RW/C that should develop well. We have a lot of depth up front so he may also be a Tier II guy next year.

I think we will likely see all three of the 2nd and 3rd round picks suit up for Ottawa at points next year but I’m not sure they will fit into the depth chart in a meaningful way. We’ll see. But it isn’t about what they do next year. It is more about what they do the following three years!

I also hope they can snag a couple ‘07-‘08 guys that can join in next year in the 4th/5th/6th rounds. I’m not sure they will go that way now. When they had 1@ picks through round 6, I thought maybe they would do that but after they traded some picks this year for future picks, I think that will be less likely.

Umm an average size D man, that moves the puck and named Campbell? We did ok with that once upon a time! Does lightning strike twice?

Imagine if we could get both of them here, it would make signing easier. Also, imagine a L side with Houben on one line and Nolan on the other line.

I hate the fronts. Could’ve taken zielinski but we went for the 2nd best LHD on HPL behind Henderson.

love the zielinski and shorter picks.

Well so far we've drafted two centers including a potential #1, 3 right shot forwards and size. I like it and it points to a bit of a change of philosophy which is good.

Picks 2nd to 7th were all from trades. picks 1st and 6th then 8th to 15th are own picks, no pick in round 7
