I think we can safely guess the wolves made the best offer out of teams Mess would report to, and the three conditional picks are probably a combination of a return next season and wolves success in the playoffs.

I think whenwe talk about Mews and his trade we also have to look at the way pinelli was left to the last moment and only shopped to a few teams. I think Mews probably did the same thing. Sudbury may not have beenone of his top 3 but like Pinellie his tip 3 said no thanks.

Mews wanted out that was well known all season. It was between him and DC and personal. I don't think it was so much get me to a better team as it was to get away from DC.

He had a good time in Sudbury but no he didnot set the league on fire or anything.

Let's face it if he comes back to theOHL next year and plays like a happy goal scoring D then I think Sudbury is going to reap the rewards and will get a return tht makes what they paid a laugh.

We shall see. I expect Mews to choose his destination prior to the start of the OHL season.
If Mews, Villeneuve, Walton, and to a lesser extent Pharrand are on the wolves roster; I will be at the arena Friday nights. But I think I will be home watching the best Barrie, North Bay, Niagara, Brampton match ups.

Just to switch topics; would love to hear everyone's thoughts on who the 67's might take in the upcoming OHL draft? Or who would everyone like to see them select assuming of course that player decides to report. Rankings I've seen have Murata, Ardagh and Warren as top 3 but you can probably throw McGregor, Wycisk and Delisle (son of ex-67 Miguel I think) into that mix. One mock draft has the Petes taking Kaden McGregor (local player from Ottawa Valley Titans) who I like and the 67's selecting Jaako Wycisk with the 3rd pick. Both are good prospects, very skilled and with some size. Wycisk reportedly was going NCAA route but changed his mind to the OHL. He also has a physical game to add to his other attributes. Another intriguing prospect that sounds as if he may decide to go the OHL route also is Landon Jackman who has those dimensions that jump out (6 foot 3 and 190lbs). He is expected to go later in the first round. For the CHL Import draft, I haven't any idea who the 67's may take and determining whether or not players would play in Canada is a big factor. The 67's do seem to have good scouts and analysts looking at Europe however, so am confident they will find a good player.

Wysick has 2 attributes that I like Size and he is a R shot Both are what we need on this team. We do not need another L hand player

Just looking at the OHL combine and the one thing I notice is that a lot of the players in the first round are not there. Can someone explain.

Is this just a way for kids that are late draft picks or mid pack to show a little more or what.

They usually update the site a day or two before the draft.

Regarding players draft position, it will depend on a few things. Teams will want the player to report. Although there is the NCAA deal, the reality is a player could still choose to not report and give the team the option to trade his rights. Considering how close all five of those top players are, I can see a team passing on any player that doesn’t want to ply for their team. I don’t think that will be an issue for the top 3 so not big deal but it is something to consider. McGregor could push to stay at home in Ottawa but who knows?

Interesting to see how it all plays out. Who indeed knows what players might be telling teams about their preferred destination. It would be a nice change if a player (McGregor) were to only want to play for the 67's. It's a bit hard to find any stats on Delisle, if he ends up being the pick - at least I can't seem to find much.

This is not a review of Max Delisle based on my own viewings. It is based mostly on what I have read from reputable posters on this site.

He is average sized. 5’11” 160. He has room for growth. Miguel was 6’1 or 6’2 and played at around 200 pounds by the time he was 18-19. So, I anticipate there is additional growth in Max.

He is a solid 2-way centre that competes well with and without the puck. As @OHL4Life likes to say, “He plays the game the right way.” Will he develop into a 40 goals - 100 point centre? Possibly? But, he will be that guy that helps you win games both in the regular season and the playoffs as a 1C. If I had to compare him to someone in the league right now, I would say Jake O’Brien. Jake has a hellova lot of points as an 18 year old and I don’t think Max will be there at the same age but they have similar profiles and are both good team players and put forth a great effort and are aggressive in all zones. If Max Delisle can end up in the same mould as Jake O’Brien, I think that would bode well for the 67’s.

Whitehead was drafted as a center 5'10 with the possibility of growth and was going to be center of future
Amidovski was drafted as a center 6.02 was going to be center of future

I think the only thing that can be said with any certainty is that if Delisle is drafted by us and comes here then we will have a 5'10 forwars that is a R side forward
Any thoughts of an offensive ability have to be weighed with the philosophy of the present coaching staff.

If we can not get Wysick then I wuld suggest ardagh at least he has the added point that there is not thought of will he grow the guy is 6' already.

We are keeping the coach that does not like offence and seems to have an issue playing rookies. Do we really think that DC is going to change his spots this off season.

What makes you believe Amidovski ever was a C?

He did not play a shift at C in his u16 season with Barrie from all the public scouting reports; and from the OHL Cup video last year; he played LW all tournament.

There was quite the discussion on this thread when we drafted him about whether he was a centre or LW, with the consensus that he was a LW.

That is accurate. He had played as a centre previous but I believe McLean (Guelph) was the centre on that line. I believe all three of the players on that line (Hawery being the 3rd) had been centre’s previously. So, there was some discussion about whether he’d be given an opportunity to play down the middle. At least, there was a little hope for that. So, I see where Beast is coming from but there was no guarantee he’d be looked at as a centre.

He was mainly drafted because of size and overall skill. We were lacking size and the players around that spot were somewhat difficult to reach at. With so many d-Men picked recently, going with Blonda didn’t make sense. Valentini was a defected player. Headrick was the most viable of the centres but he is really small and I don’t think they were willing to go in that direction at #11. So, I think they decided to take the bigger winger with scoring ability that can patrol the boards over reaching deeper for a smaller centre.

This exact conversation is why missing the playoffs was so important. It is our opportunity to be positioned in such a way where we’d have a little more wiggle room on choice. We seem reasonably certain there are five clear players available but only three of them are natural centres that project as centres in the OHL. If we ended up making the playoffs in the same position as North Bay did, not only would we likely be outside that top 5 (Lammens has poked his nose into the mix to make it six players), but we’d lose the guaranteed opportunity to snag a centre if that was considered a priority. So, it looks more like NB Will end up with whomever is left in that top 6 (likely Murata or Warren) and both project as wingers. We’d then be choosing between a dynamic winger or reaching deeper to land on a centre.

This is still speculation, of course. I am trusting what I hear from the people that are tuned into the inner circles of the scouting people. We will see how it plays out but it sounds like we will end up with Delisle. Both McGregor and Wycisk will go #1 and #2. Lammens #4 and then some form of Warren, Murata, or Chitaroni #5-6-7. But, we shall see how it all plays out.

I fully agree with what you are saying. My questioning was ot so much the certainty of him playing but the certainty of him being a center on this team and getting the ice time.

DC is right and is the king with all the knowledge. He is going to develop a team that scores goals stops goals and develops first round NHL draft picks.

Delisles dad is not stupid far fromit. I can almost guarantee he is going to want promises and a written agreement abut development or Max may not show up.

I think you need to stop with the constant questioning. If the player proves capable, he will play the premium position. If he doesn’t prove capable he won’t. We haven't heavily drafted centres so it has been difficult to expect us to develop centres. I think you need to calm down in that regard. The issue is not that players should be centres, it is we should be drafting more of them and we haven’t. For ever centre drafted in the top 5 rounds, maybe 1 of 3 will actually be capable. When you draft one per year in the top 5 rounds, it is hard to end up with the required attributes to fill the centre position.

Have seen one site (Neutral Zone) listing Delisle at 6 foot and 177lbs, so if correct, then he does look to have potential to get bigger. Player - Neutral Zone
