I just know he’s popping champagne somewhere right now@OMG67 is mourning the loss of his favorite player.
I guess his illness was home sickness.
He was home sick on multiple occasions but a locker room source actually confirmed to me that he was struggling with a health issue / illness as well. (I don't think he just walked away from the team or anything like that)I guess his illness was home sickness.
Yes, he had been sick all year is my understanding. He left of good terms, just wanted to get healthy at home.He was home sick on multiple occasions but a locker room source actually confirmed to me that he was struggling with a health issue / illness as well. I don't have much details on it

From a human perspective, happy for Korbler getting a pro contract.
From the "Between the Barberpoles" documentary, he was portrayed as being from a single parent family, with a much younger sibling (to which he was kind of a father figure), and seemingly of modest financial means. Coming to North America was probably very difficult, so nice to see he is now being paid to play somewhere.
I must hve drank the wrong thing My brain and eyes are seeing things. He definitely has a great story. But, unfortunately, great stories don’t win hockey games.
His game will translate well to Europe where they tend to play more of a goal prevention game. As mentioned, he is one of those prototypical 3rd line guys that pursues the puck well.

@OMG67 praising Korbler.
We all know that when you are growing up the best food and best way to get better when youare sickis mom's home cooked food. No ofence to bilets but it is ot the same.
Korbler knew he wsnot getting an Americanpro cntract that was obvious and that he would never get ued like he should.
Anothere twilight moment
I agree with OMG67 that he was wasted on the firt ine and was a great checking forward should have been 3rd line with Whitehead and Houben.
All the best to him and his family and hope he gets better and has a great pro career. Look forward to hearing about him.
QUESTION DID ANY 67 other than Pinelli get called up.
Why are the 67 not announcing that.
You can't blame Korbler that was a decison made by thed 2 people that everyone is defending. Boyd knew what he had and made a choice between Uronen and Korbler or drafting 2 other players.I think you are misunderstanding what I said. I had said the same thing many times. Import slots are highly valuable and need to be occupied by highly valuable players. You only get two!
If we wanted a 3rd or 4th line energy guy that can play defence, we could have just dressed one of the other 8 guys we had suitable for that role. So, although Korbler was a decent or at least serviceable checking winger, he was a useless Import. Dime a dozen type player. Give the spot to one of the younger guys.
So Sudbury gets Henry Mews at the deadline and gets swept in round one - ouch. That's going to leave a mark. Even though I don't think they gave as much as they should have, it stings to give up draft capital for a guy who didn't turn out to be a difference maker. For a guy with as much talent as Mews has, he sure had a disappointing season, and you can't blame Dave Cameron for his performance in Sudbury...
The grass is not always greener...

His placement on the team was the responsibility of Cameron as well as his development. I will agree that he was misplaced in the line up but then again a lot of players are. We had a first line player with lots of upside and put him on the 4th line and a 3rd 4th line player put him on the first line.
Again that is not the kids fault. As to using a cdn kid insted of Korbler if one showed up that culd outplay him in the eyes of the coach then I am sure Cameron would have played them.
We are not going to hit homeruns on all the Euro that we draft but it is up to the team management to decide what to do with him.
That's not what you have import players for, though. There are a dozen kids playing in the CJHL who you could plug into that role. You draft an import player to drive the play and put up points...All the best to Korbler. Seemed like a good young man, and I suspect we'd all be much more happy with his time in Ottawa if Cameron had played him in a more defensive, PKing and puck pursuit/pressure role that he was more suited for (and which he was actually good at).

One assist in 4 games. I don't think there's any way he stays and plays another season in Sudbury. If that ends up being the case, Ottawa did well getting what they did for him.The grass is not always greener...
Out of curiousity
How many 2nd round Euro draft picks have made an impression when they came here?

I think the ‘67s did well in that trade too, and it will probably look better if the wolves find a team Mews wants to play for pre-season.
