This is only speculation on my part so please NO ONE take this as gospel but there is a thread on the main page regarding Sexual Assault allegations involving eight players of the Mississauga Steelheads in 2014. The OPP is currently investigating and I assume the OHL/CHL will also investigate.

James Boyd was the coach of the Steelheads at that time. Now, this is where it gets speculative BUT if the investigation turns up information leading to the coaching staff/management of the Steelheads having awareness, this could turn into a Chicago Blackhawks situation where lengthy bans and suspensions are handed out to the coaches and management involved in ignoring or covering it up. Again, I am not saying Boyd knew anything. I am only pointing out that he was a coach and will likely be a central stakeholder in the investigation since he was the head coach and MAY HAVE had knowledge of the incident.

If it turns out that Boyd did have knowledge of it and did not report it, things could get a little messy here.
Do GM and coaches have morality clauses in their contracts? depending how the investigation is going this would be the perfect out for OSEG (again if it is true)
You get out of paying either the last year or the extension contract.

Interesting side note guess who the goaltending coach was? Hint his first name is Kory

You really need to stop with these posts...you did the same thing in the Fronts post. Don't make SA investigations into a great chance to change gm's. It's pretty disrespectful to the victim and any players that are not actually involved

I agree. It is not about using it as a tool. The issue is whether either knew about the incident, whether there was any coverup of it, and whether there should be penalties for any involvement retroactively. It is not about trying to use it as a tool.

That said, I am not too sure this is what Beast was getting at. I think it is more a coincidence than anything else. I don’t’ think he was trying to use this as a tool. No hockey club with any level of respect would try to do that. They would let the investigations lead where they lead and if they are impacted as a result, then they would abide by any decisions the league makes in that regard.

I do need to stress that this conversation is very speculative with respect to a coach having knowledge. Based on what I have read about this incident, it doesn’t’ look like there was any report at the time that would have needed to be addressed by the team. Considering that, it is unlikely the investigation would lead to the doorstep of the coaching staff at the time but it is something to at least keep on the radar since it would potentially impact both the 67’s and the Frontenacs.

Going to be interesting to see Peterborough with out a coach LOL The one advantage is that NB is laying some tough teams

I think it could come down to the last weekend.

67's lose 4-3 Petes score on a floater with 5.4 secs to go
Of all the things that piss me off, it is Ottawa's glaring inability to close out periods and games. On Sunday, Windsor score twice in the last minute of the second period to close the gap to 1 goal. Had it not been for stellar work by MacKenzie, this would have been a loss. And last night, faceoff in your own end and the Petes score with 6 seconds left to deprive you of a point? This is just lack of preparation. We are 60 games into the season now. This should not happen.

Bad teams lose games in bad ways. This is a bad team.

I suspect this is the last we see of Korbler. He will likely just stay in Switzerland next season, and the 67's will move on to another import player. Not to lay it all at the feet of one kid, but investing two years in Korbler with so little to show for it really stings.

It would sting more if they had other Import options…..

They voluntarily shipped Uronen out of town and landed him down the road in Kingston - there's an import who could have helped us. Kid has over 80 points this year, IIRC - his departure is another one of those James Boyd mysteries that never get resolved...

I forgot about Uronen. I wonder if anyone mentioned anything about that in the offseason last year?
