Good win in an exciting game. They finished the game with 13 skaters…Kelly did not return after he was involved in the scrum at the end of the 2nd, and they moved Horner into his spot. They looked tired but pulled it out.

Wow- we pulled out 2 impressive wins this weekend. Player thoughts:
- Pinelli is on fire. He is skating and stick-handling like there's no tomorrow, which for him, and for us, there likely is not together
- Whitehead has upped his game a lot. He is skating really fast and actually handling the puck now. He may actually be a good number 1 or 2 centre next year
- Houben played really well on Fri. He's crappy on draws but his focus is on cranking people on the boards and he succeeds. Today he was in the warmup but I didn't see him after.
So, a good weekend. I hope we don't overtake NB but I like the boys are showing spirit and fight.

To me, the last thing we need is to make the playoffs.
There is no upside to making the playoffs this year

3 home games against the top team in the east versus having a top 4, possibly a top 1 pick at the draft.

Again I like the play of the players and think that this could bode wel for next year.

I hope they have great games and play hard. I also hope that NB does the same and wins one or 2 more LOL

This is 100% where I’m at.

It was every bit of that, but the referees were a bit at sea. Bringing out the iPad to review a call that was never made ... twice. On the first one, the linesman reported the high stick. On the second, there was no call at all, then a review for a Major, then it was a Minor for Boarding? It seemed to me that the no call was right.

I often call out Pinelli for dumbass penalties, so it's only fair that I do the same for the Windsor Captain, Greentree. Wonderful hockey player, but starting a ruckus after the final whistle over Gerrior pushing the puck 5 feet into an empty net? That's just dumbass. Then Nesbitt goes over to the sticks laying on the ice, finds Gerrior's, and stomps on it to break it. Nothing but class there. Boyd should send Nesbitt a bill for the stick.

No matter what happens to finish the year, the reality is we have to look at it as an exciting new beginning. There will be some growing pains of course but at the end of the day, we will be waiving goodbye to this iteration of the 67’s at the end of the season.

The one thing we can see is a lot of quality players on the back end and on the wings. I really don’t think we will have any issues in that regard going forward. I know there has been a lot said about lack fo scoring depth but with year over year improvement, I don’t think that will be the big issue. I think if there is a lack of scoring, it will be a symptom of not having strong enough centre depth. We definitely will not have a 40 goal scorer next year but I think we can be in a situation where we have 3-4 pretty solid lines that can play hockey, just none that will come out and smack you silly. They will have a tough time vs the top teams but they may be able to hold their own somewhere around the middle of the pack.

The challenge with that result is it is hard to build off of if they want to make a push forward to the top of the standings in future years. Wtith no apparent studs to work with right now, it is hard to see them as anything other than a middling team the next few years. Anything can happen and the opportunity is out there with an early pick in both the OHL Priority Selection and the Import draft but anything they do this year likely doesn’t’ pay off heavily for a few more seasons.

There is nothing wrong with any of that but what it likely means is it won’t’ be a 4 year cycle. It will likely be more of a 5-6 year cycle. It may align better to the new arena though. So, there is that.

And give Pinelli his flowers too when he deserves it. He took a two-handed slash to his back with about 2 minutes left, got blatantly cross-checked in the corner, and he kept his cool when the team needed to maintain the 1 goal lead.

The lower the better. Not just because of the players available, but it takes away the argument that we got the best that was available. It is the same with the Euro consider that there is also the Q an W that are in that pool .

However, I still say a lot of it is going to be on what the off-ice product looks like, the coaching in particular. I am not sure DC knows what to do with an offensive player that likes to score and wants to play in the NHL. They are a different breed than the player that just wants to playinthe OHL

I’ve decided to take the stance that the team will do what the team does with respect to the coaching and management staff. It is just another contributing factor with respect to their success/failure. This is no different than individual player decisions.

Additionally, even if they make a switch, there is no guarantee they will be replaced by effectively better staff. The only thing we can truly evaluate is what we see in front of us on the ice. I think, as of right now, it is a much better conversation to have regarding actual players in house. What players are performing. What players are lot. What the expectations are. What the holes are and the best way to potentially fill them.

The coaching and management is important but other than saying they need to be replaced, there really isn’t anything to talk about. We don’t know who is available. We don’t know whether those available would be interested in Ottawa and under what circumstances. At least with the upcoming drafts, we know what players are at or near the top. We know what attributes we are looking for. And, we can discuss what players would be best suited to fill those needs. Coaches? I don’t see a real conversation here. OSEG will do what OSEG does. It is sort of a situation where you either fall on the side of replacing the coaches or you aren’t. The conversation really doesn’t go and can’t go much deeper than than.
