Imagine the discussions around player moves. It's easy to see that there is a lot of resistance to coming to Ottawa. Players and agents know what happens here. Whether that's a Boyd thing or a Cameron thing or both makes little difference. There needs to be a radical change here or TD Place is going to be a quiet place for a few years.

Let’s see what happens with the Mews deal but the rumoured return is VERY weak for an elite 18 year old. I mean, if you are truly walking away from bad deals regarding Pinelli, how do you not walk away from that Mews deal? We are going to look so horrendously bad when Sudbury moves Mews next deadline and we see what they end up getting for him.

Sort of shocking if no one else ends up on the move too.

What does the rumored deal for Mews include? (i haven't seen it)

What, if Pinelli nixed all the deals?
 
ah that's better. From 67s website: we got 7 draft picks and a player for Mews. So not nothing. Still, looks like Pinelli is moving back in with his billets...
 
Three conditional picks in n the Mews deal. Looks like there is concern about him going to Michigan. I assume those three conditional picks end up being higher picks if he plays next season.

Brady will have company , although he is a rookie, so he might just play on the bench.

That possibility might be the only saving grace in the deal. How do they not get one of Sudbury’s two second rounders this year?

They don't turn into anything else, Ottawa just gets them if he plays next season.

If he sells off all recognizable players, the team keeps losing, at the part of the season (2nd half) where 67s usually start filling in the stands more, does that make sense?
I think hosting the WJC is also playing a factor this year. Filling the stadiums with fans taking junior hockey this year will only support 2nd half 67 sales in Jan. Feb. Mar.

It is referred to as opportunity cost. Every decision made affects something else.

If the priority is $$$$ in the short term then he shouldn’t have even entertained trading anyone at all. Clearly that was not the goal. He was actively shopping players. So Inreally don’t think short term $$$ was a factor at all.

WRT the WJHC, I think the result has left a bad taste in the mouths of the casual fan. I really don’t think we can expect a significant boost there. I could understand if the team was successful and Pinelli made a huge contribution, there would undoubtedly be a boost but this result was worst case scenario. In fact, I could argue no firing Dave Cameron right now is costing the team money and reputation damage.

The answer to that is simple Boyd and Cameron.

We are forgetting one big thing when we say that we are getting draft picks.

First we gor an 18 year old ROOKIE

We got Sudbury 3 and 5 picks this year, which is good, but picks are nothing. It all comes down to what you do with them, and Boyd has not done well.

If none of the younger players were interested in coming here and Mews wanted out, then we have to look at the draft with the question of will the good players come here and play.

Somebody mentioned that with Killer, there were those who loved him and those who hated him. But the one thing they all knew was that if you played for him and learned, you were going to get a pro contract if you wanted it.

DC is incapable of doing that.

Boyd seems incapable of trading players and getting the return, as well as drafting impact players.

Does anyone think Pinelli will come back here next year, and does anyone think Ekberg will be happy to come back and play? There is nothing to say that Pinelli Foster Marelli and Ekberg will not say to trade me before the season even starts. Considering that Pinellil had already packed up and moved out, I think he has said it all.

Ottawa could end up with Korbler being their only Euro player next year.

I think Boris is right. The Larry Mavety wannabe has to go along with DC.

It is quite telling that the organization is falling apart, and right now, OSEG needs to step in, or the new arena will look like the Sens arena did when the 67 played there.
 
AS a leader in teh military I always told my subordinates not to come to me with a problem unless they had a solution.

HERE IS MY SOLUTION

DC retires now or the simply fire him

Boyd gets released NOW.

For the 67's this is possible adn quite easy to do. We already have the replacements on staff.

PUt Milley behind the bench

POromote Jan Egert to GM.

If we wait, then agents, families, and current players will not be sure of what they are getting.

This allows people to see what the new team will look like from a development and coaching point of view. We all saw the ice time that Amidovski got while DC was away.

Moving Jan to GM is simple because he scouts the players. It is his connection that gets the Euro players. It sends the message of who the team is going to operate, and the parents and agents have someone with street cred with them that they can talk to. He can also get out on the road and start talking to prospective players to see who will give the 67 a look and be willing to come here.

OH Yeah, one other thing about doing it now is that Season tickets are going to start to be advertised soon, and do you really think they are going to sell many if the same duo is still here when they go on sale?

Anyway, like my subordinates, all their ideas were not great, but at least they and I came up with a solution.

Because (no one) would pay the ‘67s ask, the ‘67s had to accept the best offer that remained after teams that could not acquire Mews earlier went ahead to make alternative additions
 
Well, this season is a write off. No chance NB passes Ottawa in the standings after the exodus they managed to strategically execute. So, Ottawa is pretty much cemented in 8th and will likely be good enough to finish ahead of four teams in the Western Conference and two teams in the eastern conference which means we likely pick around 7th. Considering the disaster this year ha snow turned into, a 7th overall pick has to be scored as a big loss.

What does the team look like next year?

Barlas (OA) - Foster (OA) - Ekberg
Amidovski - Dever (OA) - Kelly
Yanni - Whitehead - Kingwell
Houben - Bowes - Houben

Marrelli - Eshkawkogan
Jackson - Brady
Dietsch - Bonomo

Nelson
???

We can add:
1> Import player
2> NCAA commits like Vandenberg and Krawczyk
3> 2025 1st, 2nd, 3rd round picks.
4> Free agent players currently in NCAA or supposed to be in NCAA
5> Players from the 2025 U-18 draft

We could sub out one of the OA forwards and keep Horner and use him on RD.

As you may be able to tell, I really don’t care about the rest of this year. 8th place and out in 4 or 5 games in round one. Ottawa will get a Tuesday and Thursday home game with 2200 people int he rink MAX. Nothing to look forward to with an early draft pick. DC has hung a black cloud over the franchise. Boyd was unable to maximize a return for Mews and was unable to even secure a trade for a 48 goals scorer that represented Team Canada. I think that pretty much sums it up folks.

If anyone wants to discuss next year’s team and whatever strategy exists, I’m all ears. I’m not wasting a drop of energy on any OHL discussion this season. As far as I am concerned, it is over. If Boyd and Cameron are both in charge next season for the start of the rebuild, I may just pack it in and call it a day. Move on. No interest in following the team anymore if it is simply a corporate afterthought and a line on a balance sheet which is what it feels like now.
