I agree but I also look at what @OMG67 is saying. We need to get rid of a few players and anyone that is not interested in coming back next year or not sure should be gone now.

But I think that if we get rid of Dever we need to keep Foster or vice versa.
I don't see anyone wanting Barlas or Horner

The people I can see traded are Pinellli, Mayich, Mews and either Foster or Dever. There is an outside chance on Gerrior.

Mews I have in here because I am not sure if he wants to stay or go or if he is willing to come to a team that is a complete rebuild next year. His value to me is higher now when a team like Brantford or Brampton can get him for this years run and also have him next year.

If we trade our D then we will have some picks that we might be able to get another player to slot in on defence.

The big question is who do you release as your 4th OA. Yes if we trade mayich that would solve it but if we can get an OA D cheap to replace him then that is a real option.

It is tough to talk trade when it is multiple pieces shuffled around. They will do the Pinelli deal. They look to be trying to package Pinelli and Mayich based on one rumour out there from a respected HF Boards poster. Whether they actually do anything else is the question. I agree that moving both Dever and Foster is sort of suicidal but that also depends on the players coming back. That is a component we really don’t know so it is tough to theorize.

The reality is we need bodies in for bodies out. We cannot hit the 2nd half with 20 roster players. So, if they move multiple bodies they need to bring the same back in. They have PErrier and Bonomo signed that can be added I guess but that really isn’t ideal if it can be avoided.

Agreed it will be interesting to see what happens and who has the parts to offer.

Again I have to wonder what Niagrara is going to do. If they want to make arun next year then Mews would not be bad and they have the players to offer in return. It is too bad Kingston does not have the plaeyrs to offer they have the picks and it would amost make sense.

According to the main board, Pinelli may be on his way to Brantford. Here’s hoping that if this is the case, that the return includes their 2024 first rounder Aidan O’Donnell. Aiden O'Donnell - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

If it turns out to be Brantford, I can’t see it being anything other than O’Donnell as the player. They have a couple other ‘07s that could potentially be in the deal but I really don’t’ see how viable they would be. Neither are high ceiling enough. It would make it a primarily picks deal. They could have done a picks deal anytime.

Plus, Brantford traded for the rights to Malhotra. Decent chance he signs for next year. That is almost like a free ‘08 with only a 3rd, 4th, and 5th going to Kingston to complete that deal if he reports. So, it sort of makes O’Donnell expendable.

To me, the question is whether Mayich is in the deal or not. Brantford does have three solid OA’s. Not sure what the status of that is though and where their priorities land.

Lavoie is a local Ottawa kid with 20 points in 35 games as an OA in Brantford and would be a solid add if Mayich goes to the Bulldogs. Hamilton also has seven 2nd round picks that can be moved.

He’s more likely to be released. No sense for Ottawa to move out Mayich and add an OA. Still would have four. Nothing against Lavoie but he doesn’t really move the needle for any team competing and would only be viable if Ottawa also releases MacKenzie. I’m not sure they are going to do something like that.

Let’s first see if it actually ends up being Brantford. So many NTCs halting deals right now.

You never know. If O’Donnell refuses to waive as well, Ottawa may have to make the Pinelli return a Rehkopf / Barlow type deal.

Anything can happen but if that happens then it is going to be really hard for other teams to make same/similar deals. Only so many draft picks out there when it take 10 to make it work.

Right now there seems to be too much conflicting rumours. The only thing we can say for certain is Boyd seems to have a lot of balls in the air when it comes to Pinelli. That usually means there is a lot of competition for him. I know for a fact there is one other team than Kitchener, Barrie, and Brantford that is making offers and that team has not even been rumoured at all. So, I think this will all get sewn up by Sunday night with the papers filed with the league on Monday. We should know by around 2-3pm Monday at the latest. If it were done now, someone like Jeff Marek would be on X posting the deal or at least the destination with the main players involved. Since no one like him has done it, if there is a deal not all players involved have cleared. Marek would not post it unless he was given assurances that the players are all agreed to move.

With so much shit flying around it makes sense for Boyd to request a best and final offer with a deadline sometime tomorrow, if it hasn’t happened already. They will need time to clear all the players (which teams likely know which players are and are not going to waive their NTCs and if they have preferred/accepted destinations).

Does Brantford make sense? I thought they were building for next year or do you think they are banking on an extra year next year with him. I am wondering if the issue with Pinelli is more of who has players that will move. Versus offers.

One thing to watch is who plays and who does not int the game today

Ottawa sent Kingwell to join the team today. No last minute scratches. MacKenzie out today so Conway backs up with the other three OA’s in the lineup. 67s ice a full 18 skaters. Pinelli out of course.

We shall see if Brantford has O’Donnell in the lineup today. IF there is a trade involving Pinelli and O’Donnell, you’d think O’Donnell would be sitting
out.

EDIT:
Lavoie is the only suspect scratch for Brantford. O’Donnell in the lineup. Headrick in the lineup for Kitchener.

North Bay gets Parker Vaughn. That sucks for Ottawa.

That now means the prized prospect is off the table. If Boyd was waiting on Barrie to make their decision, it means that is now done. He has to shift to Plan B. Both Headrick and O’Donnell in the lineup today (so far).

8 Points on the 9 game road stretch. I’d say that is pretty darned good overall. The team remains mostly competitive without Pinelli. They may not win a lot of games but they will remain competitive and in games in the 3rd period.

Well the next few days should be interesting for the poles. I know we've been talking about getting an 08 as part of the return for Pinelli but with Vaughan off the table I wonder if they should target an 07 as we do have a hole there ( Brusk defected). That would support our decent 07 ( Ekberg, Nelson, Dietsch, Whitehead, Yanni) and have a good 19 y.o. cohort ahead of 18y.o. Esh and Amidovsky??.
