Yes impressive weekend. Nice to see the young players coming through with increased icetime.Big win. Big weekend.
Kelly’s best weekend of the year. Dever turned it up a bit. Gerrior was consistent as usual. I still think Whitehead and Amidovski need and deserve some more ice time. We are seeing a lot of the older players getting ice time because it is show-and-tell time in the OHL.
Boyd wants to show off these players, as they are the tradeable ones. Dever's having a good weekend is good for him but possibly bad for us. If he gets traded, we will be back to having only 2 real centers next year.
Mack, Gerrior and Stonehouse I think the market has been set and there is not alot on offer.
Mayich is the top OA that teams are going to call about. Let's face it he would be a calming influence in Brampton.
Mews, I think, started the season with 2 problems. The first was draftitis ( I have been drafted; therefore, I know what I want to do). The second was DC and his system and a dislike for it.
If I am Boyd I have one question for Mews.
If DC is back as coach next year, will you report, or will you ask for a trade? Considering that next year's team will probably not be as good as this year, it would be reasonable to ask.
If the answer is noor not sure, then he needs to be traded now when we can get the most for him.
OVERALL THOUGH, this was an AWESOME weekend. we won the games we needed and were close and competitive.
I stillthink the battle for playoffs will be us and NB
Nice to see this team get back in the hunt - this isn't a Memorial Cup contender or anything, but there was more talent there than they were showing in the standings.
It would be folly to go out there and be a buyer at the deadline, but aggressive selling needs to be weighed carefully. If the offers for Pinelli are weak, for instance, are you better off just holding onto him to help you make the playoffs and model the way for your younger players? There is a value to having your team in a legitimate playoff chase and playing at least one round in the playoffs. Conversely, you can really hurt player development when you are throwing in the towel with 30 games to go. Trade your captain at the deadline and you have just told every 17 year old on your roster that you have given up. We have all seen what that looks like on other clubs, and it is not pretty. I know that the conventional wisdom in junior hockey is to sell like crazy if you aren't contending and buy like crazy if you are, but maybe, just maybe, the Brian Kilrea steady approach might be the best one for building a program long term...
I don’t expect Ottawa to be trading everyone
So cool to see him get a shot!
Trading Pinelli isn’t giving up. It is telling the 17 year olds that they are pushing assets forward to help that group when they are 19.
But, let’s be real. We beat the two teams that will be with us in the 8-10 range as well as. A team that pretty much put forth zero effort in Barrie. They weren’t’ engaged at all.
I’ve said Pinelli and only Pinelli. We shall see what happens.
The London trade gives us an idea of what Mews would be worth interesting.
I agree, but if London would spend that many picks and a player, this tells us what Boyd should get, and yes, it is a lot higher. Possibly, two players and picks or picks that are higher and can be used sooner. In fairness, Mews is a more offensively impactful D-Man and is a year younger. That trade value for Allen is unlikely to be relatable to Mews. That extra season Mews has makes him much more valuable.

Did Hunter talk to Boyd? It would be interesting for sure.
It is going to be an interesting 27-30 days that is for sure.
like I said the next month is gong to be interesting
Yes. For sure. There are up to six teams in the East looking to add players to varying degrees. Probably three in the West.
As of right now, the key players that seem to be on the block (in no particular order) are:
1> Musty
2> Pinelli
3> Andonovski
4> Gibson
5> Romani
6> Luchanko
7> A few key OA’s like Allard and Miseljevic etc
There will be a second tier of players as well that will garner a lot of interest, especially for teams looking to add some depth more than higher end elite talent.
The Allen deal has pretty much set the market for cost. I cannot see Gibson and Andonovski going for less. Maybe les s picks with more impactful players? This looks good though for teams lacking the tradable players but carrying the picks. They will likely have an option available. From an Ottawa perspective, the Allen deal is one that likely equates for Pinelli, assuming they cannot pry a more impactful player out of the destination team which would reduce the picks.
