None of that makes it any more clear to me if Boyd can obtain a good prospect in a seller trade this season. I can see Pinelli and Romani traded for a similar 2,2,3,3,3 pick deal as some forwards were at the ‘23 deadline.
With 21 players born 2006-08, NB might want to move some bodies out.Yes, and that is what the market would bear for them. If there is considerable demand and less supply, the selling teams may have more leverage to pull out prospects.
With Mews you have to wonder if he has bought into the system or Calgary and his agent have told him to stop sulking and play hard. I am sure the Flames gave him instruction on what he needed to develop to get to the AHL level. I would also assume that his agent toldhim to talk to Bahl. That comes down to the market, really. He has Pinelli. That should get a good prospect and picks or a lot of picks. The good prospect part will come down to the market.
If Mews ends up in the equation which I somehow doubt, that will definitely include a good prospect. There has been a shift in attitude surrounding Mews. His body language and sound bites with the media has changed. I’m not sure if that means anything but it “looks” like he is buying in to the program. Whether that means he is happy or not is another story but the dense I am getting is he doesn’t seem to be demanding a trade…more like requesting one if the right destination for him opens up.
Mews has been putting up really solid numbers so his value should be super high as an 18 year old. He’s sitting at 1.21 PPG which is almost even with Parekh (where he should have been last season). Things are going well and I think that has done a lot with respect to his attitude. I don’t think he will be moved.
I think it is going to be pretty difficult to keep Pinelli. I don’t seem any reason why Pinelli would want to stay. I think Pinelli not getting moved would be Pinelli requesting to stay and not be moved. That seems like an unrealistic situation but crazier things have happened.

That being said I think that Boyd and his agent need to sit down and tal about what next year holds and if he still wants out then it is better to trade him now so that ateam gets this year and the next out of him versus trying to trade him next year.
If we trade him this year I can see us getting at least a few picks and a player. Assuming Saginaw is going for it this year then He along with Leblanc are the top 2 RD avail. But with Leblanc being OA that should up the price for Mews.
Personbally I am not sure who would bring the better return Pinelli or Mews I think that will depend on how many D and how many LW are avail in the draft.
Either way the issue is that we will get some good picks (hopefully this years draft) and it will be u to Boyd to use them properly and then for DC to develop the players.
Does anyone see a spot for Stonehouse anywhere other than here.

Brady Stonehouse scratched tonight. He hurt or just a healthy scratch as the 4th OA?
He could've stopped 60/60 tonight and not for a second would the Gens think of adding him. He's an OA. The Gens have the best OA goalie in the league??Before the game I was going to say we might see MacKenzie in Oshawa colours in a month or so. Not so after that clunker of a game.
What am I missing with Ekberg? I've never really seen him play but was under the impression he's an NHL draft guy. Why's he being buried on the 4th line of a bad team?Same old story.
Some positives amidst the mess…I thought Whitehead and Ekberg looked pretty good in limited ice time. Mac made Nelson’s last effort not seem so bad after all…

I think we can all admit now that this is a 8-9 team. Where we end up will be dependent on how much NB unloads.
To me I think unloading mews is just as important if not more than pinnelli strictly on return.
Both should be traded and the rebuild officially start
agree I would’ve take sztuska any day of the week over MackenzieIf there was no market for Stuzka there isn’t one for Mackenzie.
If he leaves Ottawa its most likely to waivers and his OHL career is done
I think that if we are rebuilding then pinnelli, mews, Stonehouse and depending on the return FosterI will try to take the high road on this one.
If DC were to say that Ekberg is 17 years old and Whitehead is likely the 1st line centre next season, it makes sense to pair them with this year’s 1st round pick. The line can play together for three seasons and is likely line #1 next year as it stands.
I could also say that if the plan is to trade Pinelli, why play him with Ekberg meaning he would have to switch up lines mid-season.
For some reason, that line has always been listed 4th on the depth chart but there really isn’t’ much of a difference between the 3 lines that don’t’ include Pinelli and Foster. Pick a true 2nd line out of those three remaining lines. I dare you! DC has balanced those lines all season.
You have to give me some leeway because I am trying my best to find an answer.
I think there are many on this thread that would suggest he should be centring Pinelli and Foster. For some reason, DC has had Foster as the #1 centre when he has never played centre as a 67. The rare times he did play centre, he was awful. This is why I suggest that Pinelli’s season has been pretty solid. He deserves his Team Canada selection. He has had a strong motor all season. Doesn’t take a shift off. Plays a 200’ game. Tonight was a strong example. Ottawa got waxed and Pinelli still managed to pick up an assist and was a +/- 0 when they gave up 6 even strength goals. He hasn’t played with a centre all season. Quite often he has played with Korbler on his opposite wing. Recently with Stonehouse since his return. But, mostly it has been a two man line without a true centre. Had he played with a true top centre and a decent right winger, his stat line would be mighty fine.
Meanwhile, the PP has been the bright spot for the 67s and Ekberg has 5 PPGs and 7 PPAs playing on the 1st PP unit that includes Foster and Pinelli…. That is tied for 7th in PP points league wide. Sooooooo….. what is the answer? I really have no f’n clue.
9-16 when you factor in the loser points……
Romani has pretty much missed most of the season for NB so if they trade him, it really wouldn’t make a difference. They are already not playing with him.
I think we can safely say that unless someone wants to trade a stud 16 for picks we are definitely in the seller market.
I think that if we are rebuilding then pinnelli, mews, Stonehouse and depending on the return Foster
Their value now is higher than it will be next year. We know this team is not going anywhere so why not gut it now get what we can and plan for the draft
You’re definitely not hopeless. Have a bunch of good young guys. Nelson future goalie, alphabet gonna be an amazing d in not only this league but probably getting nhl drafted too. Yanni has skill but just needs the older guys to get out so he can prove it to Cameron. Same with Amidovski and obviously ekberg.I’m not a fan of bottoming out. So, if we were to move all of those players, for me it would depend on what we get back. We’d need at least one solid body, probably two, if we still want to not end up in the gutter for two seasons. You know I am not a fan of bottoming out. I’m fine if we finish the season with 60 points and miss the playoffs. I just don’t want to finish with 40 points and be hopeless.

IMO there’s more pros than cons to trading those guys and getting picks and probably a few players back
Foster should get a better return than stonehouse. Don’t think you get more than a few picks for stonehouse. His value has tanked the last few years.
trade Pinelli, Mews and foster and keep Stonehouse, Gerrior and Mackenzie
