Which teams do we think would be calling Boyd on Mews? I agree on your comments re: London making little sense as a destination for Mews.

I think Mews is driving that bus… and I am not too sure he knows how to drive.

I don’t think this is an issue like that. I think it is Boyd reaching out to teams Mews would want to go to and only those teams. If a deal is possible, he’ll do it but if not, again, Mews is driving the bus so…

I would do Mews for Blonda in a heartbeat. Maybe not straight up but I doubt Mews would go there.

Blonda is a non-starter, not going anywhere.

Says you. If the wolves are intent on competing, the team needs a 2nd pair of D right now. The wolves could trade Mews next season with the total cost of a rental being a second half plus first half without a true rookie 1st pick
We have already competed about our fighting weight. Don’t disagree that more depth on D are required; however, it won’t come at the cost of a Blonda. Not happening. Picks trade for someone, maybe. If trades don’t happen then we save all those 2nds for next season…

Until those picks get you nothing of consequence again next year. Then roll them all over again and again.

The strategic advantage of adding an 18 year old is you either get that player for 2 seasons or replenish much of what it cost you this year, next year at the deadline when you trade that player aka Peterborough and Owen Beck.

So, yes, if the right deal is out there for you 1st round pick, do it and then add a 1st next year when you trade the player.

Zero chance that I ever do a deal with London for anything. The Hunters could offer me a second round pick for a bucket of pucks and I would pass. In fact I'd like to see all 19 other franchises essentially freeze them out and refuse to deal with them on anything. Maybe after a decade or two of that we could then consider lifting the embargo. (I'm joking... sort of...)

Clearly no trade worked out with Brantford.

Mayich is in the lineup. All the potential Brantford players that could be reasonably included in the deal (O’Donnell, Radley, and Avery) are all in the lineup.

If we needed to send Lavoie back to sort out the OA spot, word is he just decided to quit.

Are we really sitting a kid in junior hockey for trade related reasons? Lame. I can sort of see it in the NHL, but to do it to a kid in the CHL seems really petty. Either trade the kid or let him play...

The wolves are not playing above expectations. Any team with 1,2,2 picked OAs, 2-1sts @19 with one #1 overall, an 18 yr old lottery pick, and another 18 yr old scoring at a pace not far off the very top '06s, and 20 (2-5) picks should be contending really.

Does holding onto Mayich mean that they might move Mews?

I’m hoping that they didn’t wait too long for the Pinelli trade and that one of O’Donnell or Blonda plus picks are on the table?

Guessing that there are still at least three more players moving out.

Good luck to Brady Stonehouse, a fan favourite in my household. Hard working player.

Not great return for Stoney, can't blame Boyd though simply a poor OA market and in fairness Stoney hasn't been great since his return. A bit sad he's not going to a contender although he might get a taste of the ahl this year.

They could still trade Mayich though OA for OA as an upgrade.

Back up and running!

I wouldn't be too surprised if Mews is traded.
If Boyd gets what he wants I could see it happen

I cannot say for certain and I do not know any of what I am about to say is accurate. I have spoken to no one.

I think maybe there was a deal with Brantford but O’Donnell wouldn’t waive his NTC. I say this because something held up that deal (apparently). I think they simply ran out of time and Brantford shifted gears and acquired Budnick. Boyd found a landing spot for Stonehouse in Peterborough and it look like Peterborough release McIntyre so it doesn’t look like they had any time to work anything else out on their end.

With the OA trade deadline being !2;00 Noon today, I “think” this is the most likely explanation.

Does Boyd even have a prospective deal for Pinelli? Does he have other options? I am sure he can arrange a primarily PICKS ONLY deal for Pinelli but at this point I highly doubt there is a significant player involved returning to Ottawa.

My understanding is he has moved out of his billet home. He is at home awaiting a trade so I assume this will all get worked out one way or the other but I do think the return seems to point towards being underwhelming.

Also, Brantford and Sudbury both have a lot of draft picks so it does make sense that there are still rumours of Pinelli going to one or the other.

Maybe, I guess we'll know soon enough. I'm not disappointed that Mayich wasn't moved in the end though; the 67s need him a lot more than they needed Stonehouse for the remainder of this season. The 67s are a small team and Mayich helps in that regard, as well as mentoring some of the younger d-men.
