I guess the league wanted another gate for the 67's OHL. Shameful display of officiating for that call and all game.

The 67's were robbed TBH but hopefully a large, boisterois crowd back in Ottawa will help the boys finish these guys off.

What a terrible call. If you have to review it for eight minutes, guess what? It's inconclusive and the call on the ice should stand. Video review exists to overturn clear and obvious errors, not to get yourself another eight minutes to noodle over a judgment call. An awful, chicken shit call by a couple of officials who were intimidated by the home crowd...

Tough to win a game when you play one period. They need to learn to play a full 60. The sooner they find that consistency, the sooner they can win a series…

That crowd is nothing. 3,000 people in a shoe box rink is nothing to write about. Lol

Truth is if Ottawa played the first two periods like they did the third, this series would be over. The lack of fore-check, puck pursuit and any sense of urgency in the first 60 minutes clearly cost them. They had Brantford on their heels for most of the third, but the long reviews and resulting ridiculous call on the tying goal killed any hope/momentum they had. After that performance Faist and Ferguson should take a seat for the rest of the OHL playoffs

This is the core issue. The futility of the review process is just a side light. Both goals were called good on the ice and then the game stopped while Ferguson tried to hit a new level in Candy Crush.

Now DC sees why Alan Letang was so angry.

Ottawa got behind ... again. They gave up a PP goal to a team that struggles to score them ... again. Faist and Ferguson don't call much and what they do call is doubtful.

This team needs to be prepare for Game 6 like it's Game 7. Full bore from the first face-off. That's coaching.

Hamilton's telecast crew (opps I mean Brantford) have to be some of the biggest homers in the league. The play-by-play guy whose name is so irrelevant I couldn't be bothered to look it up needs better glasses. Switched over to AJ lessen the abuse....

Was in Brantford last night. Arrived home about 2:15am stopped twice on the way home. I believe the bus was behind me. Late night for the players when it’s an absolutely must win hockey game this evening. Brantford got very lucky that Foster goal should have counted and nearly every Brantford fan agreed. When that puck went in the net you could hear a pin drop in that arena. When that goal got waived off the place exploded what a great place to play hockey fans are top of the OHL very passionate.

Tonight we need a couple things. MacK needs to be MacK and most importantly Pinelli & Kressler need to show up. Game 4 & 5 our two top players have been ghosts and that can’t happen. Good to have Gardiner back last night although his ice time was limited he’s a guy that you can put out with not much worry. It’s too bad Kelly went down because we could use him in this lineup specially the way he was playing. I think Yanni will be great for this team in years to come but right now in this moment he’s not big enough or nearly strong enough or confident enough to even give more than 2 or 3 shifts a game. I thought Smyth & Sirman struggled big time last night. I think we need to try & run more of a 4 D System in the 3rd period maybe the last 10 minutes when trailing?. I’m sure along with everyone one else Dever is shocking us all leading the team in points. Rumour up in section 114 with other Ottawa fans 12/15 stitches above his eye the shift before he scored that big goal. Hes a player that has came a long ways & making a big impact in the playoffs. I have been to every game this series & think Malliet has also been very good he does a lot of good things away from the play. Mews & Mayer need to be the players they were in game 4 tonight. Mayich & Marrelli need to just keep it simple. Mayich needs to as well keep his head we can not have trips to the box all night we will not win having to kill all night.

Tell the family, the friends, everyone you see today to get there ticket & let’s pack the arena as full as we can.

I don't have a horse in this race, but I actually think the refs got both reviews right in this game. First one redirected not kicked. Second one player entered the crease on their own, regardless of whether they were prevented from leaving expeditiously. If they were pushed into the crease initially different story.

Anyway, I like watching Ottawa play, lots of speed like my hounds. I think you will wrap this one up at home.

They got both calls wrong. It's actually the same rule:

6.6 (c) A goal will NOT be allowed if the puck has been directed into the net as a result of a
distinct kicking motion by an attacking player or, after being kicked, the puck deflects
off any player or object into the net.
Additionally, a goal will not be allowed if an
attacking player deliberately directs the puck into the net with any part of their body.

On the Foster goal, Körbler is perfectly eligible to be in the slot because the puck is already there. Also, even if you deem that he didn't do everything in his own power to avoid contact (I disagree with that because he was clearly pushed in) he doesn't prevent Drobac from making the save. The contact happens when the puck is already in the net. I don't know how you can look at this for 10' straight and still get it wrong. By taking this long, they completely killed the 67's momentum as well who, at that point, were absolutely buzzing.

I shouldn’t take 8 minutes to determine it. That’s the problem. If it were a quick decision as it should have been then the calls wouldn’t be as questioned.

I do the same. The CHL stream is about 30 seconds behind the radio, so you know about plays before they show up on TV. If a replay would reflect poorly on the Bulldogs or their analysis of a play, then that replay doesn't appear.

The refs completely messed up the 67's tying goal (toned down the language from last night lol) IMO.
No question joke of a call with the Poles carrying the momentum they may have ended the series shortly afterwards but I guess we'll never know.

I'm indifferent about the "kicking motion" and it could have gone either way on this. I still feel like it being so close of a call the motion was definitely sold" and the refs bought it (but I'm bring a homer here) but probably the right call. But I can understand if Brantford fans saw it differently.

Now back on the bus they go for tonight's game six. A long way to go when the 67's could have ended it. Ottawa should treat this as their game 7. Undefeated (so far) on home ice and hopefully the place is packed with a lively atmosphere to seal the deal.

Hoping Barrie ties their series with Oshawa tonight to inflict some physical elements on the Generals. Would love to see a 67's/Colts series in the following rounds but not likely lol.

Tonight's Prediction: Ottawa 6-4

The original intent of replay was to correct obvious and clear errors. If you watch it twice on replay and it isn't clear to you if the call on the ice was right or wrong or not then guess what? It's inconclusive, and the original call should stand. Drop the puck and let's get on with the game. Spending eight minutes on what was clearly a judgment call and then deciding to reverse it? That's not what replay was ever put in place to do.

I think some people are forgetting that it wasn’t your standard “replay” to determine if in fact it was a goal or not. McKee challenged the goal on the premise of goaltender interference….

Thanks, and if so really dumb on Mayich for not controlling his emotions
OH my so not good. Reminiscent of Zanetti years ago of taking himself out of a series through stupidity. Somebody has to step up...who? Sirman? Do they take Brady out of the mothballs? Just don't thrust Smyth in a top 4 role.

The smart thing to do would be to drop Horner back to defence. The less we see of Smyth (and Sirman) the better. If they insert Smyth into a top four role, we're doomed ...

Neither of them were judgement calls or inconclusive. The law is pretty clear.

You're not allowed to intentionally redirect pucks into the net with any part of your body. This is very black and white, not a grey area at all. Stonehouse may have been tied up in a battle but he knew exactly what he was doing. That wasn't an accident by any means so the goal shouldn't have counted.

The Foster goal wasn't a judgement call either. Körbler was eligible to be in the crease area and he was pushed into Drobac. Also, at no point did he stop Drobac from making the save. The contact happened when the puck was already past Drobac.

I agree that the reviews took too long though. I don't know how you can look at a situation for this long and still get it wrong. Twice.

All that matters is they play hard for 60 minutes and pressure the puck carrier consistently for 60 minutes. Mack needs a strong game. If they do those things, they don’t need Mayich.
