Neither of them were judgement calls or inconclusive. The law is pretty clear.

You're not allowed to intentionally redirect pucks into the net with any part of your body. This is very black and white, not a grey area at all. Stonehouse may have been tied up in a battle but he knew exactly what he was doing. That wasn't an accident by any means so the goal shouldn't have counted.

The Foster goal wasn't a judgement call either. Körbler was eligible to be in the crease area and he was pushed into Drobac. Also, at no point did he stop Drobac from making the save. The contact happened when the puck was already past Drobac.

I agree that the reviews took too long though. I don't know how you can look at a situation for this long and still get it wrong. Twice.
I'm confused here. Did Stonehouse deflect the puck into the net with his skate or another part of his body or equipment?

His leg came out. Not a goal imo.
Exactly. And I could be wrong...but I think he was actually surprised when the refs called it a good goal. He was kinda smiling and joking on the bench, fully knowing what he did. The moment the refs started reviewing it I think he expected the goal to be called back. Not a fan of the Brantford announcers but I think they were right about him trying to disguise what he did by engaging in that battle and making it look like he was just tied up and swinging his leg as a result of it. Nice try. I certainly didn't see it in real time. However, once the refs reviewed it I think they should have seen that it was a smart and intentional play, not an accident. Once you spotted that, the law is pretty clear. Maybe the refs didn't know the law though:laugh:

The only way you can call it a legal goal is by saying that it was an accident and Stonehouse didn't do it on purpose. I guess you if you wanna be generous you can give him the benefit of the doubt but for me it's clear he wanted to score a goal.

Thanks, and if so really dumb on Mayich for not controlling his emotions
There are certain gestures and phrases which can get a player suspended. Someone playing at Major Junior should know what those are and control himself. I've seen 14 and 15 yo players make that mistake earning a Gross Misconduct, but a 19 yo Alternate Captain? Dumbass penalties have been a problem all year.

Intent is the point. Goals are often scored via deflections off legs and faces.

There was clearly intent imo.

All that matters is they play hard for 60 minutes and pressure the puck carrier consistently for 60 minutes. Mack needs a strong game. If they do those things, they don’t need Mayich.

The implications of not having Mayich at our disposal are not ideal, but in general I agree. We’ll see how good of a coach Cameron really is in a few hours time, in terms of lineup construction, motivation, and getting his players to execute on the gameplan that has been successful so far. And our best players - MacKenzie, Kressler and Pinelli - need to be our best players.

Can I rant? I will anyway. The need to review so many plays and then debate the results later is such a waste of time. Both plays were called goals on the ice. We wasted about 20 minutes waiting for the OHL Brain Trust to come to a decision. The only decent review was the one that correctly exonerated Okitundu. The confusion among the officiating crew was embarrassing. It was a minor, then a major, then nothing. Make the call and play hockey. Even a minor to Okitundu wouldn't have been a disaster.

You guys have lineups for each team tonight? I'm going to buy this one.

I didn’t want to JINX it so I didn’t make a reference of it on here but I really thought that Mayich being out would be a positive. IT would force them to ply with more purpose and likely Mayer would play every 2nd shift. They did both. It made a big difference. There was about 10 minutes in the 2nd when they let the foot off the gas a bit and got running around a bit but they reigned it back in nicely.

Hopefully they learned something in this series.

Brantford was a solid opponent who will be tough to deal with next season. They have some meatheads for sure but battled hard all series. Good show.

Next on the Generals (again). What would a post-season run look like without playing Oshawa. Lol

This is the 67s team we’ve been waiting on, a complete pain in the ass to play against. It seems like our forwards prevented Brantford from cleanly breaking out for shifts at a time in the 2nd and 3rd, and Brantford seems to have packed it in early in the 3rd. Great game-planning all series by Cameron, exploiting our team speed and tenacity, and excellent execution by the 67s. This may have been their best game all season.

MacKenzie won the goaltending battle this series, which was a huge factor. Massive games from Dever, Gerrior, Mayer, Marrelli and Horner in particular.

No doubt their best game of the year. Agreed this is what we've been waiting for. The emergence of Dever/Horner has been huge. I hope Horner likes playing the wing cause I don't think he's going back to D. I want to give kudos to our 5 D-men. Mayer played as expected. M&M moved the puck splendidly all game. Sirman was solid and Smyth played his best game in a long time...nothing fancy, took the easy play. Also threw in a few good checks. I've been hard on him but tonight👌. If he can just play within his means all the time he can have a role going forward. Korbler also played a sneaky good game. Good on the forecheck and on the PK. Finally the refs sucked, Brantford could have had 10 penalties easily but they were turning a blind eye all night...weird. Just had to say it. On to Oshawa!
