Beast what do you think about the Thibodeau trade
As I said on the fronts board this is more of a cleaning out than gaining. This gets rid of one player and one coach at the same time LOL

Thibodeau was not going to play the 2 way responsible system that Mann wants nor was he going to be a team player

Thibodeau is a candidate for draftitis. If he gets drafted i think it will go to his and dad's head that dad knows what he is doing.

At this stage of things i really do not see the 67 doing any trading unless it is for Mayich but even then with him having a pro option i am not sure he gets traded until after St Louis decides what they want

I could see Smyth getting moved during this window. I’m not sure any team would jump on him right now but I figure the 67’s would move him if the price were right.

I agree about Mayich. I could see them move him as well if he were still in the situation he was in last deadline. If a team wants him that suits his needs then I could see the 67’s do him a solid and get the deal done early.

I also agree about Thibodeau. I think this is the first shoe to drop in Kingston. This is Mann’s opportunity to move out the guys that don’t fit. This doesn’t mean Kingston is a seller, more that they are looking to craft their room the way they want and he just didn’t fit the mould they want there.

Wondering where people have heard that Mayich wanted a trade.
He is from Stoney Creek, so the top 2 choices would be Niagara and Brantford if his being at home is important. If he can be a little farther away, then London Kitchener and Guelph would come into the picture. Personally I see a deal with Niagara as the best outcome.

My only question is how much this family situation will affect him and the Blues organization.

To me, Podolioukh or Bryant for Mayich would be a great trade for both teams. The issue would be whether he is signed by the Blues.
We get the center we need and can then trade Sirman Or Gerrior.

When is the signing deadline for Mayich is it this month or next year?

Mayich was a 2023 draft so they have until next June 1 to make a decision. As a 6th round pick and the type of game he plays, he would need to offer a serious 5/6 type projection and right now I don’t see it. I think he will end up with an AHL deal unless he wants to go to school. I just don’t see him as an NHL prospect. I doubt anyone would proceed with any concern in that regard. His being drafted won’t likely play any sort of factor in trade decisions etc.

Is this just speculation that Mayich wants a trade, and the reason is he wants to be closer to home? What is his 'family situation'? If it is only speculation, not sure this is up for discussion.

I could be getting players mixed up. Fairly sure I saw something about a player on there and I believe it was Bryant they were talking about.
Yeah I saw the same thing so no one is sure what is happening. The only thing is that we can be guaranteed that he is not on the market to be traded.

OMG who is usually pretty good at this stated that it was a fact so I think we have to go with it at least for now.

It isn’t a fact. It is the information I received from two separate sources. Keep in mind that I don’t know what the issue is and I don’t know if it still exists. The puzzle pieces fit close enough that I feel it is real but they are still only puzzle pieces.

Any insight on Gavin Ewles?

Skates well. Shoots the puck well. He’s a Righty. He isn’t great inside his own blueline on coverage. You will like him at the beginning. But, it is more likely he will wear on your patience because he doesn’t produce enough offence to offset the defensive woes.

But, he’s a righty that can skate and move the puck so it really depends more on what you need. if you have a steady stay at home guy he can play with that will cover his butt, he could potentially open his offensive game a bit and be more productive. Ottawa’s defence was younger so he wasn’t a good fit in that regard.

Do we Keep Uronen or do we draft a new young player

I think we have to let Uronen go or trade him and get a young gun to help with the rebuld.

Or you keep him, let him prove valuable and then trade him at the deadline for assets. You can replace him next year instead of passing on the 1st round Import pick.

Boyd and DC have many options. It will be interesting to see how they manage them. I am starting to think that Mews may be an early 2nd round pick Marrelliu will nbe a mid card pick and they will be the only players drafted this year unless someone takes a flier on Hilton.

If Mayich does not get signed by the draft this year does he go back in or does he have another year to sign. I thought it was 2 years which would mean that he will play his OA year still their property.

I am hearing, Barlas,Kelly, Smyth & maybe Mackenzie will be on the move

The challenge with Barlas is his education package. He has a gold package as a 1st round pick. I don’t think Ottawa will have the luxury of retaining the scholarship in that deal. So, I wouldn’t expect much of a return if he were traded.

Thanks for the info. Is the trade window still open?

FWIW, I can’t see them trading Sirman. He’s a leader, hard worker who has been very selfless during his time with the team playing up front when needed. Perfect OA on a retooling team, in my opinion.

Definitely some tough decisions lay ahead for the team.

I don't think you will see MacK traded until training camp and they see how these guys are

Barlas, as OMG stated, could be difficult.

Except for Mack, these guys epitomize the old 2-4-and-a-bag of pucks trades. There is no real value for them.

Sirman is going to completely depend on Mayich, as will Gerrior.

If Mayich gets traded and we are able to get an OA Center, then it gets interesting as to who they keep.

I agree. The trade players @AGranderson mentioned will mostly be to open the roster for younger guys. I think it will be more about getting them a place to play more so that worrying about the trade return. I’m not sure about the OA Goalie market early on so I am not sure what MacK would be worth if he were to be moved.

If the roster flexibility were strong enough, I would like to see Stonehouse, Gerrior and Mayich return as the OA’s but maybe try to trade Stonehouse to a contender and bring in a OA centre?
