I say Ottawa having the record they have is a surprise to everyone. I'm sure we all hoped for top 4 in the east and are very surprised with 1st..
I do believe with 2 moves we could stay on top for sure. It probably is that the players on our list aren't available or are to expensive and Boyd believes that next year would be a better time to spend.
2 points....don't trade away a player...use the picks only and...
Please don't go for Wright....that's all I can say
Unless it’s changed, the window for trading 16 year old 1st rounders opens on Jan 1.I believe the trade freeze is from the last game before Christmas until the first game after Christmas, so Dec 18-Dec 28. I think once the freeze lifts on Dec 28, first year imports and 16 year old first rounders are finally allowed to be traded. Also players at World Juniors aren't allowed to be traded until they are sent back.
Kingston fan here. By looking at the OHL data base site, the two teams I would deal Wright to are Barrie or Ottawa because of the draft picks available. The one thing I have not seen mentioned is that Boyd and Wright are spending a month together at the WJC. Both will be watching each other, seeing how each other operates. If a mutual admiration comes together there will probably be a conversation about future plans. Maybe it already as. I believe Boyd has a unique opportunity to check out a player who may or may not move the needle on the 67's.
He needs then to make a decision and hope it is the (W)right one.
Come to think of it...
All I want for Christmas (can receive anytime after Christmas):
- We trade for Logan Morrison for picks
- Wright gets returned to the OHL and demands a trade to Ottawa because of his time with Boyd
- Clarke gets returns to the OHL and demands a trade to his hometown team Ottawa
- Detroit decides Lukas Kaspar gets re-assigned to the OHL in Ottawa
Am I asking for too much![]()
Somehow I think Wrights time with Clarke and Othmann would be more meaningful than the GM so better chance of Peterborough or Barrie.
If Clarke gets returned to Barrie, Barrie is going to relieve themselves of some draft picks. Somehow I don’t think he is coming back though. Just a gut feeling on that one.
It would be amazing if Rohrer could weave his magic with Kaspar. But, ultimately, it isn’t up to Kaspar where he plays.
Morrison looks like th only true possibility. BUT! When you make a list to Santa, you only expect one fo the items on your list to end up under the tree so you may get one!
For real? Wow! Shocking. I thought for sure he’d be released to play for Austria.Rohrer would have to be on the phone with Kasper as he is not at the WJC.
The funny part about all of this is it is Ottawa with the strong depth and less high end impact talent. They theoretically could use Wright more so that Peterborough. I’m just not a Shane Wright booster as an ONL elite player . Love the kid as a massive NHL prospect in time though.I have a feeling Wright will end up in Peterborough with Othmann and as @OMG67 and I have agreed upon, yes it will give the Petes a boost but they are better suited spreading the limited assets out. Doing that gives them the better chance of a deeper push
I was actually thinking this the other day about Ottawa not having the same 'star' players that Peterborough does, but they don't even really need it. I think Ottawa is better suited for talented character guys Morrison, Hayes etc. It fits the mold better and is giving elite productionFor real? Wow! Shocking. Seattle hasn't burned a year off of his entry deal yet. He's only played 8 games and i believe the requirement to do so is playing the 10th gameWhy are people so convinced that Shane Wright is coming back to the OHL? If you're Seattle, don't you just hope that he can ride the momentum of a great WJC back to the NHL and be more productive there? Seattle is a playoff contender in the Western Conference - if they think for a second that a rejuvenated Shane Wright can help them in a bottom six role , they'll bring him back. They've already burned a year of his entry level contract, so I fail to see what it is in it for them to send him to the OHL.
Correct he can play 9 once he plays 10 it burns a year. He could go back for one game and then be sent back to Kingston who knowsI was actually thinking this the other day about Ottawa not having the same 'star' players that Peterborough does, but they don't even really need it. Just an fyi if people are viewing this they can also view the score online, just a thought67`s down 2-1 after 2
Little ahead of your self great effort from a young groupWell, for those of you that are on the side of next years 67’s being a contender of sorts, this weekend is a great example of what you should expect to see. Sub out Tolnai for Rohrer and Costantini for Smyth and you pretty much have the returning roster for next years team.
Granted, the team will be one year older but we can see our younger guys right now are complimentary players, not line drivers.
