Its just such an important position. I've never understood why the market for goalies is so trash. I suspect it's a lack of consistency and the fact that a bad goalie is effectively unplayable and basically a useless anchor against the cap.

Just too much risk when they don't pan out i guess.

I always liked kastelic. He had a bad year last year but there was so much off ice stuff going on with rhe team that it probably impacted him

He has a great combination of tenacity, grit and a hint of scoring. He could very well turn into a hell of a third line guy. Hope he does.

I would have given up far more for a signed ulmark.

I don't know about that in the long run TBH, and furthermore, you NEVER give up a player like Pinto to accomplish that sort of means. Talk about neutering your gains almost entirely.

If korpi finds his game with a hot kastelic and that 1st round pick in 6 foot 7 in dean leternaeu becoming a solid prospect this trade ain't that bad as as most sens fans saying. I dont think it's a fleecing. Bruins got some decent pieces here.

It's really all about the 1st. Kastelic will be fine, but he goes ice cold for stretches and his physical game suffers. He probably wasn't worth too much.

It's fine in a vacuum and Boston will be fine, obviously.

Korpi has proven that he can catch fire at times. My guess is that what he ends up becoming . .. a streaky, medicore goalie with the occasional awesome stretch.

But who knows! Goalies are weird.

Korpisalo has talent that I would say most goaltenders don’t have. That said being a NHL goaltender takes a lot more than talent, and from an outside perspective it seems like he struggles with the mental side of the position. If it doesn’t work out with Boston he is a type of talent that teams will be willing to give an opportunity to, maybe not the same opportunity Ottawa gave him though.

Yes, if all the Boston pieces exceed expectations and the Ottawa piece does not, the trade will be good for Boston.

I look at it like the Erik Karlsson trade. That's a similar scenario to what is described. I still don't go back and judge the basis of the return as if Dorion had any idea that he was setting up the team with prior to injuries what would have been the team's 1A/1B centre for the next decade, among other pieces - and that outside of an (at times) brilliant first season in San Jose, Karlsson would not be the player they thought they were getting until he was forced to cosplay as Bobby Orr to make himself appealing in a trade out of San Jose.

The reality is, it should have taken that 1st alone to dump Korpisalo at 3M x 4 years. So from a value perspective, Boston didn't do well. If Korpisalo ends up as a positive at 3M, Kastelic becomes a gritty fan favorite, and the 1st round pick produces a star, that is good for them but irrelevant to judging the trade.

The extreme example of that logical flaw would be if Edmonton trades McDavid for a 7th round pick, and that 7th round pick produces a player better than McDavid. Nobody would go back and say McDavid for a 7th was a good trade, but you can still acknowledge that the trade worked out.

Ullmark gives up 4 I'd argue there's only the Newhook goal he should have had and now people think it's a bad deal ?

Caufield's first goal was a wicked shot that any goalie would have gotten into a similar position leaving the same area.

Heineman's 1st he was left alone in the slot and didn't even dust it off, just fired it and has a fairly nice release himself.

Newhook's goal. No screen, didn't look like a deflection just a bad goal. On the Habs only Laine and Caufield should beat a goalie with a wrist shot from that distance.

Caufield's 2nd goal was a nice stop by Ullmark and no one of the Sens got back to stop, tie up, or anything with Caufield who poked it by Ullmark as he tried to cover it.

I want to pile on and make fun of the Sens, but come on, one game...

Is it just another over correction from Sens fans possibly hyping Ullmark after the game against Florida ? Or do that many people dislike Ottawa, as a lot don't seem to be Leafs/hab fans taking pot shots at them

Sens fans trash Korpisalo after one bad game: "Haha Bruins suck lol!!"

I do the exact same thing back to them after Ullmark has one bad game: "Wow why are people so mean to Sens fans???"

Oh my God...Ullmark let in 4 goals from that worthless pop gun offense of the Habs.

Ohhhh....the humanity of it all!
