Korpisalo will continue to be a sieve in Boston, as we saw last night.

Also a perfect length. Would you prefer it to be $7.5M? Yes, but it's Ottawa. It costs more to get guys signed here.

Same has Huberdeau in Calgary. Wait until x-mas and see if the guy is a fit before giving that kind of cash.

Paying him top 5 goalies dollars without seeing him could be a disaster.

Not like waiting would cost you all that much more.

It's impossible to have playoff hopes now or in the future without a quality starter. No other position can completely derail a rebuild. Your own team, for example, is going to need to bring someone in to be a #1 at one point or another.

there's actually quite a large gap between "sign before he plays a single game" and "let him go to UFA"

He's pretty clearly not a systems goalie, he did excellent on some horrible Buffalo teams

Well yeah Boston is known to get the best from their goalies it’s not out of the realm of possibility at all that Ullmark doesn’t live up to this.

Still if you’re Ottawa with your goaltending struggles you do this no question.

That one game sample size is always great evidence. Beside Korpisalo is also just not a good goalie and hasn’t really been since Columbus. Also, even if Ullmark is a “system goalie” that doesn’t mean he’ll be actively bad somewhere else…he may just be average and overpaid.
