Crazy that the guy who was going to have to leave to be able to sign Pinto was the guy who had to leave in order to be able to sign Pinto. Still need 3 forwards and a defenseman for just under 4M. Good luck?

Feel like this doesn’t rule out a trade but rather guarantees Ottawa will get assets back. 2 years for a guy like this seems fishy.

That's a good deal for Ottawa imo , it's almost like its too good to be true , are normal logical hockey operations starting to resume now? Wonder if he sticks around or gets traded

But changing out spare parts for similar spare parts (aside from Ulmark) doesn't really inspire confidence. Especially since Ulmark doesn't come with an extension in place.

This is Staios’ first summer and he has a new coaching staff, a new starting goalie, a new partner for Chabot and is changing out most of the bottom 6.

IMO, that inspires quite a bit of confidence and shows a new path. If the team struggles yet again next year, I’d imagine some bigger core pieces will be on the move.

But what did you expect? A Tkachuk trade?

Pump the breaks, guys… I’ve heard from league sources that Pinto’s agent and Staois havent talked contract #s in several hours. Not a good sign given that they only have 800 days to get his next deal worked out. An offer sheet seems like a real possibility if Staois doesnt get this settled by mid-2026. The clock is ticking and it might make sense to trade him for Kaliyev while the option is still on the table.

Interesting. I thought they acquired a Vezina winning goalie last week.
The sens weren’t even close to making playoffs last year and they traded a first rounder for one year of an aging (although still great) goalie.

That's a god awful trade with zero foresight. Ullmark likely won't resign unless it's a huge overpayment. It's the duchene trade all over again.

Most people were under the assumption it would cost something close to that pick just to dump Korpisalo.

This may blow your mind, but thats actually how age works. In all instances.
