Easy no from Ottawa. Many factors:

Norris is our #1C, some may say our only competent NHL centerman. He has been super impressive.
Norris is Brady's Best friend and is a part of our core.

Girard has not been overly impressive, hence why Colorado is looking to move him.

Is Norris 1C material? I thought he was more of potential higher end 2C? Girard has been impressive though. He had one bad round of playoffs. Honestly, on most teams he would be a top pairing LHD.

Rather have the top pairing Dman on one of the best contracts in the league, Girard is a stud.

Yes unless you’re the Avs who have an over abundance of defense and need a long term 2C. With Barron, Hellesson, and potentially Behrens on the way in the next 2 years they can afford to trade him for a 2C.

On most teams, absolutely. Not on Ottawa though. I would be much, much more interested if Girard was a RHD.

Nope. We have a lack of good Centres already. We are not trading Norris who is at least a valid 2C and could become a 1C.

Excellent proposal.

AVs obtain the young 2C/3C. Kadri shifts down and allow Newhook more time to develop. Norris is a RFA and likely resigned for more money than Girard next season.

Sens obtain a solid 2D - LHD playing behind Chabot and adds extra offence with the abilty to switch to RD. Girard signed long-term appealing to EM at a reasonable cap. Sanderson is still a few years away and potentially the player Girard is currently.

Both teams have abundance of depth prospects to replace the traded players AVs - Behrens and Sens - Pinto/Greig.

Values are fair and would agree on a trade benefitting both teams.

Sens would probably be interested in Girard, but not at the cost of Norris. They don't have the organizational depth at centre to trade one away, let alone the best centre they have.

Sens desperate needs are for a 2nd pairing RHD, centre depth (preferrably a top 2 centre), and right wing.

In a heartbeat, so probably no from the Sens.

But this should be the idea behind trading Girard, they’re not going to trade him just to trade him.

Girard has not been overly impressive, hence why Colorado is looking to move him.

That is not why Colorado would be moving him, the real reason is Bowen Byram.

Sanderson is not a few years away, his potential is higher and different than Girards, and Sens absolutely do not have abundance of depth prospects to replace Norris. Value is fair, but we trade from arguably our weakest position to fill unquestionably our deepest position. Not close from Ottawa's perspective.

Easy no for Ottawa. Our center depth is atrocious and we have already have Chabot and Sanderson on the left side
