Nothing against Norris, he's a good player... But he's not an ideal center (no hands whatsoever), slightly overpaid at 8M/year and we all know about the shoulder issues.

I don’t hate but I don’t love it as of now. Younger player, makes a bit less, ex-Sabre factor, less injury prone.

Not sure I like disrupting the team like this mid-season, especially with how close Norris is to Chabot and Brady.

Yeah I don't really get it, Josh Norris is better at hockey... not even 2 years older and just a bit more expensive

I think this is an even trade. I will miss Norris, but he does have a significant injury past. One more shoulder injury, and he could be done. Cozens is RARELY injured and plays almost every game.

JBD wasn't gonna be here long, especially with Kleven & Matinpalo passing him and with Yak on the way.

We also save about $800k on the Cozens vs Norris swap.

This is a core move that works for both teams.

Not really keen on this. Norris has taken some big hits this year and his shoulder has held up. And he's a true center...Cozens likely isn't. I really don't care for chipping away at our center depth. Not hot on Pinto being a 2C permanently.

I hope Cozens does well. We need a trade win here.

Norris can skate and shoot a puck, but he can't pass it, drive the play down the middle or make his wingers better. All important attributes for a top 6 center. He's 100% reliant on a playmaking winger like Batherson to score at even strength as a center. Fwiw, I was actually against trading him and in favor of moving him to Stützle's wing to maximizehis strength. However, Cozens is a tremendous return with (again) immense potential. No fan of Staios so far, but this trade is a win and it won't be long before you/most fans are on board. Add in the 2nd and it's a homerun.

Josh Norris is a good player, but he's NOT an NHL center. That much is obvious for people with eyes.

If he was in fact a "good center", he would not be on the trade block, as teams NEVER move 25yo, "good centers" that happen to be locked up long term."

Getting a 2nd round pick on top of Cozens is a big deal for this team. Really liking the trade now even tho I wish he'd have gotten Peterka instead.
