Yeah he’s at least better than Gilbert. He’s a serviceable willing bottom pair D. He never got bigger/stronger after being drafted but he can play.

On Cozens, it's important to note that he'll have much more insulation at C with the Senators than he did in Buffalo.
Stützle will continue getting the prime minutes against the other team's top D pairings.
Pinto will take on the key defensive assignments.
Cozens will get the softer matchups where he can hopefully generate some secondary offense.
It's a much different setup for him, and hopefully he can do well in that role.
What support at C did he have over his career in Buffalo? Mittlestadt? Kulich? Krebs? Girgensons? That's not much.
senators going to like gilbertYeah he’s at least better than Gilbert.
stuzle Is the type of player that I expected Cozens to become.Norris is the best player in the deal right now and jbd is better than Gilbert.
But this shake up should work out well for Ottawa.
Tkachuk-Cozens-Batherson
Zetterlund-Stutzle-Giroux
Perron-Pinto-Amadio
Greig-Gaudette-MacEwen

Looks pretty good. If cozens need to slide over to the wing that can work too with pinto moving up.
I think playing Pinto with Cozens on the wing would work out pretty well for you guys. Cozens is at his best when not tasked with too much to do defensively. You can either shelter him on a scoring line, like Buffalo failed to do successfully, or put him on the wing with a defensively sound centerman, like Pinto.Norris is the best player in the deal right now and jbd is better than Gilbert.

I agree with this. I think Cozens will be in a better place and I do hope he turns it around. I still think he shouldn't be a Center because he just isn't great with the puck on his stick.
He still is young..I think he will turn it around.. Buffalo just can't really wait for all it's young talent to mature and develop.
Well the good news for Ottawa, I guess, is that Norris also wasn’t good with the puck on his stick. That’s why he had to be stapled to Batherson, who was always the primary puck handler on the line.
I’d be surprised if the Sens don’t start with Zetterlund - Cozens - Batherson. You have a puck carrying playmaking winger, a big C who can skate to the net, and a guy who can shoot and muck it up.
Plus Cozens and Batherson played on a line at the WC and were dynamite together.

Good luck guys. I used to love Cozens. If I end up liking Norris half as much, it’ll be a big win.

The top two lines can be flipped. Stutzle will get more mins so I probably should have done that. Between tkachuk and batherson he should be fine though.Cozens as a 1C
What could go wrong?
Cozens as a 1C....Good luck with that. You haven't watched Cozens play. The top two lines can be flipped. Stutzle will get more mins so I probably should have done that. Between tkachuk and batherson he should be fine though.
Seems logical, Cozens is a bruiser, he hits alot so the desire to try him with Tkachuk will be too much to bury for the coaching staff...loads of options really. 2C then. Or like I said in my original post he can slide over to wing no problem. Pinto can be/will be a 2CCozens as a 1C....Good luck with that. You haven't watched Cozens play.

na, you dont trade for a guy like Cozens and play him on the wing in favor of Pinto at 2c... Cozens can be a dynamic centre.2C then. Or like I said in my original post he can slide over to wing no problem. Pinto can be/will be a 2C
This whole narrative is so dumb.
These players weren't struggling on a personal level in Buffalo. Team wise? Yes. But they were all good in Buffalo outside of Montour. And Montour popped off for one year in Florida and has since came back down to Earth. Montours struggles can probably be attributed to Buffalo using him on his off-hand.
Ryan O'Reilly time in Buffalo was consistent with his entire career except for one season in St Louis.
Eichel and Reinhart certainly didn't struggle here. Did they get better? Absolutely like most players do as they enter their prime.
Dumb narrative that was probably formed on Sabres HF Boards and Sabres Twitter.

No worries, there's no world, even a multi-verse, where Cozens ever takes the 1C from Stutzle. In fact...I don't see Cozens taking the 2C from Pinto, so that leaves him on wing. Something I think the Sens brass need to do.Cozens as a 1C....Good luck with that. You haven't watched Cozens play.

Cozens is definitely not a bruiser. He has hit more this season, but they're more like check the box hits than aggressive hits. If you're expecting a fearless player who skates around and imposes himself physically all over the ice, you're going to be disappointed. He's more of a speed, transition puck carrier with a good, but inconsistent shot.Seems logical, Cozens is a bruiser, he hits alot so the desire to try him with Tkachuk will be too much to bury for the coaching staff...loads of options really. And he is a glass body and Cozens isn't. Unless Cozens is a bad apple the Sabres lose.Yeah.. this is why I am totally apathetic to this deal. I don't think Norris is the type of Center we need. Buffalo forwards are basically all shooters.. just like Norris. We need playmakers in the Center position.
Rasmus Dahlin is our best playmaker.
Just another example of Kevyn Adams not knowing how to build a roster.
Hopefully I'm wrong.
