Other Sports: Broncos, Nuggets, Rockies etc…Part VII

I'm putting in my early vote for some type of combination of Adelman/Vogel for the Nuggets HC.

Frank Vogel isn't super great, but he is a definite solid defensive coach. And Adelman is already a Nuggets guy and coached with Vogel in Orlando. So give Adelman a shot - if he does great hire Frank as his assistant. If Adelman stinks it up, hire Frank and have him retain Adelman. Either way, hire Frank to fix our piss poor defense.

I'm making my way through the Athletic article detailing the Booth/Malone firings and what led to them.

Interesting to note that when Russ started f***ing things up last game, Adelman said "nope" and yanked him. Malone probably would've kept him in.

Who could’ve predicted a team that’s been horrific for years and has only scored 33 runs in 11 games this year would lead to bad attendance.

It held up far, far longer than that idiotic owner had any right to expect. The copious amounts of alcohol served on the party deck could only mask the issues for so long.

Such a shame too. I've only been to Coors Field twice but I really thought it was a nice ballpark.

Of course, everytime you haven't been to a MLB park in a decade or so, they will all look amazing when you first catch sight of the field as you enter the stands from the concourse. Something about all that lush grass in the middle of an urban area always just hits me in a good way. I'm not sure if baseball still captures the spirit of America the way it used to, but when I do catch an odd game, the nostalga from the sounds of the game just resonates. I think for the first half of my life all naps during the summer had the sound of a baseball game either on TV or the radio in the background.

If Monfort gave even half a f*** as much about the on-field product as he does the presentation and facilities, the Rockies would be much, much more successful. Coors Field is a beautiful park, always has been, and the addition of the deck was a smart move. I like the new scoreboard too, while still keeping the old-school out of town scoreboard along the right field wall.

I assume they still haven't brought down those abhorrently ugly sections of chainlink fence known affectionately as "The Bridich Barrier," right?

I didn't notice them but the last game I caught there has to be going on six years. We were in Denver for a couple of days shopping before heading back home and saw the team was in town and caught a game on a whim. My wife isn't a sports fan by any means but is always up for a live event, turns out it was Star Wars night. Really cool and fun presentations. Home team headshots all had them wearing X-Wing pilot suits, visitors were all stormtroopers... that kinda stuff. Darth Vader even through out the first pitch, but I swear he throws like a girl. Should've used the force.

It's about time the Rockies suffered some consequences at the gate.

Since the Rockies got here in 1993:
-The Broncos have won 3 Super Bowls
-The Avalanche got here in 1995 and won 3 Stanley Cups
-The Nuggets have won an NBA championship
-The Rapids got here in 1996 and won an MLS Cup
-The Mammoth got here in 2003 and have won 2 NLL championships
-The Outlaws got here in 2006 and won 3 MLL championships, went dark for a few years, now back in the PLL
-The Crush got here in 2003 and won an Arena Bowl (died with the original AFL in 2008)

Now we're getting an NWSL team. I would bet money they'll win a league title before the Rockies.

Every team can win here except the Rockies.
