OT: Other Sports: Broncos, Nuggets, Rockies etc…Part VII

On a side note holy f*** what an absolutely incompetent organization the Mavericks are now. Apparently they got so frustrated with Luka they fired three longtime staffers who had close relationships with him to try and spur him into changing his habits. And these three staffers actually preceded him. The move obviously backfired.

To me, this is all ownership.

The Adelsons have been very public about wanting an arena/casino complex and Dallas has been very public about not allowing that to happen.

Conspiracy theories are running wild but the one I do believe is the Adelsons wanted nothing to do with paying Luka 345M, would rather see the team get worse, lose fans and then hit Dallas with the "well, if you won't support us, Las Vegas will" and move the team.

The GM was apparently hard core anti-Euro. One of the few times you are able to be smug as an NHL fan seeing the NBA is 30 years behind on xenophobia.
 
Keep seeing Jeanty being mocked to the Broncos, which I don’t believe he makes it past Dallas at #14 and even if he did I could really see a team trading up for him. But IF he’s there at #20 the Broncos need to take him. Nix would look good throwing into nothing but single coverage.

I like a lot of the day two talent for the Broncos. I’d love for the Broncos to add a pick there. Can Payton on side kick at the draft.

The other super obvious pick for the Broncos (aside from Loveland) Ted Johnson looked great at the Senior Bowl practices, but weighed in at 156lbs. Hopefully the hurts his draft stock.

For me it’s Jeanty or Warren. If they’re both gone then I guess they could go for Emmanwori (but I’m hoping they sign a S and LB in free agency). Indy and Dallas have the same needs as us. I can’t see Jeanty getting past Dallas at all. And I think Indy is either going to take Warren or Emmanwori but they also could go a lot of different ways. If either of those teams pass on Jeanty/Warren then we should even move up a few spots if we have to secure one of those two.

I won’t be shocked if Mason Taylor passes up Loveland after the combine. I’d honestly be happy at TE with Warren, Taylor, or Helm. Possibly Arroyo but he’s got major injury concerns. Loveland is too much of a Julius Thomas guy that won’t do a great job blocking, and Fannin is even worse - dude is basically a very large WR.

That’s really f***ing stupid when you consider the greatest player in that franchise’s history is a German.

Definitely feels like owners that really don't care about Dallas or the Mavericks, and like you said, are trying to force a move to Vegas. It's gotta be wild for people attached to that franchise to move from Mark Cuban who seemed to truly love being an NBA team owner, and wanted the best for his franchise to the Adelsons.

They’re lucky Jokic is a good guy and isn’t throwing a huge tantrum about the lack of help……But at some point this does become ridiculous and if he did say screw this I’m out - I’d completely understand.

Say what you will about Cuban, that guy took one of the most irrelevant franchises in sports (still pains me to remember Alex English and Fat Lever wearing those stupid uniforms with the big ten-gallon hat on them in the final years of their careers) and made it into a premier franchise. That and he wasn't the same boring-ass old man we see too often in those roles. His takedown of Skip Bayless a few years ago is one of my favorite things to watch on YouTube.

This reeks of the same scheme that served as the basis for the plot for Major League.

There is a zero percent chance the Mavs are going to Vegas. Absolutely zero. C'mon, man. They are not moving a team from a rapidly growing, gigantic market to a small overcrowded one.
 
Can't believe no one wanted three more years of Zeke Nnaji at 8M. Or, a completely useless Dario Saric bench warmer. What is going on with these GMs... :sarcasm:
