Folks are dumping on Nix but the pass defense just really sucked that game. Was checking out the PFF scores for each player - the worst 3 defensive performances were ALL by our defensive backs. Nik Bonnito was also shut down the entire game and nowhere to be heard from.

The only way we win that game with such a porous defense is to get into a shootout with Joe Burrow/Chase/Higgins. That’s a terrible way to win against the Bengals and really unfair to ask from Bo Nix as a rookie starter. Our running game was non-existent outside of McLaughlin. TEs were again horrible. There just wasn’t much there.
I mean the Bengals offense is the best in the league for me. They've been dumping on everyone they've played this year and unlike the other best offenses in the league bar Washington they don't have essentially any defensive support. So yeah it sucks that the defense wasn't great, but Cincy was always going to put up points.

And I will say that the defense also did its part. You can't expect to contain EVERY team, especially a team as dangerous as the Bengals.

They sacked Burrow 7 times, forced and recovered 1 fumble, and stopped them on 4th down twice while holding a third time in the red zone for a FG instead of a TD.

Against almost every other team, that kind of defensive performance ends with a W. Against Burrow, Chase, Higgins and co. It ends in an overtime L.

Yup. They didn't start with the ball in OT and got two possessions. Which resulted in 6 yards and like 70 seconds taken off the clock. The offense was nothing but putrid in OT.

On my keister
I just came across the Bucks-Pacers game.

How long have the Pacers been dressing like that? It's offensively ugly. Like, not tacky in a fun way. Just bad. I had to change the channel back to Latvia-Finland's intermission before I became physically ill.

No one is talking about it, but Joe Burrow has had a really good year.

Over 4600 yards (1st in NFL)
42 pass TDs (1st in NFL)
Only 8 INT
70% completion %
QBR and Rating at the top of the league

Good QB, good team. 7 of the Bengals 8 losses were by one score or less. 7 of their 8 losses also against playoff teams. If they make the playoffs, no one is going to want them in the Wild Card round.

People keep saying it's a two-horse race for MVP between Allen and Jackson, but Burrow really should be in contention.

He has almost 1,000 more passing yards than Allen and almost 700 more than Jackson.

13 more passing TDs than Allen and 3 more than Jackson.

Now, both of those guys rush more and have more TDs on the ground so they make up for it there, but IMO it's a 4-horse race between these three and Barkley.

Lots of people have been talking about it. How many teams lose 3 games where they score more than 30? He's super elite and always has been when healthy. The only reason he won't win MVP is because Josh Allen is having a great year AND his defense is helping him get wins. Burrow is like Jokic right now, the best there is despite getting zero help from his line and, up until a few weeks ago, his defense. And his kickers have cost him games too. If you wanted to pick who is the best in the game right now it's Burrow and it's not even close.

I think Burrow being in the MVP race comes down to whether the Bengals can sneak into the playoffs.

Lots of dudes in these playoffs I hope the Broncos will take - Skattebo (had more yards than Texas offense at one point), Warren (2 TDs last night), even the Texas TE (could get him in 3rd ish round).

Kinda stoked for the Broncos to finally add some people and stop chasing QB/OT every draft.

It's very similar to a lot of NFL playoffs except the roles reversed with the bye teams losing. Lots of speculation said it would be better to not have a bye and get a playoff home game and I think it's true. I mean if you were ASU or Boise wouldn't it have been better to have that be your reward for a good season instead of a neutral site bowl far away from campus against a top 5 team? My guess is they expand to 14 and keep only 2 byes in the future.

I’d rather they just gone full tourney with 16 teams, use the Poulan Weedeater Bowls as 1st round regionals and autobids for mid major conferences.

Agree, get rid of most of these bowl games. Maybe allow teams to set up their own exhibition games at home or nearby sites if they qualify. Could be a way to preserve old rivalry games in times of conference changing mayhem.

Having a bowl in a stadium with under 10k fans where no one cares about the result and half the starters are either out or not trying is dumb. My team lost a close game and at the end I was thinking I don't care one bit if they pull this out or not.

We knew this was coming, but today it's formal:

Denver will have an NWSL team beginning in 2026. 110 million dollar expansion fee which is a record for women's sports. They are going to build a stadium but it won't be done before they begin play, so they'll have to rent a temporary home.

The primary owner is local billionaire Rob Cohen, who also tried to land a WNBA squad last year but ultimately didn't have an arena deal in place.

I’d like the tourney to be all bowl games. Keep the bigger ones for the later rounds and then the Weedeater Bowls can rotate through the first round as hosts.

Who do you think would draw a bigger crowd to the Shreveport? Army vs La Tech or Georgia vs Texas State? And when they are not part of the tournament they can function like the NIT, which they pretty much are now anyway.

I also think had this tournament been around decades ago like it should have, it would have prevented the realignment woo we’ve had going.

That'd be funny if they build a venue that made The Dick look inferior. At the very least don't put it in Commerce friggin' City.
