I didn't watch any CU games this year, was BYU that good or did CU just choke?

Either way the ESPN commentators tonight were atrocious. Couldn't stop talking about how great CU was when they were down by 30. Embarrassing

The game was lost the second Payton didn't go for 2 in regulation.

Everyone knows OT favors the better team and the home team. Of which Cinny is both.
The games have been lost by Paytons obsession with these damn screens. It's infuriating watching 10 screens a game where most of them don't work.

BYU was just inconsistent all year. Some games they looked like the version of last night and some games they just didn’t even show up at all.

I feel bad for whoever drafts Shedeur, guy will completely bust at the NFL level. Simply can't make on time plays.
I think 2 things he’s not a fast processor, and can’t read defenses

Nix is a super inconsistent passer. I wonder how much of that is why we see so many screens. I’m not married to that being the reason though

Seems like they increased exponentially once stat whacking took over because they are a high percentage completion and gooses the QB rating, but they rarely are successful and whenever they get stuffed it's a total momentum killer.

And they are just chickenshit football. I remember the chargers always throwing them.:madfire:

Bo looked way better throwing long bombs than those short routes. I say just stretch the damned field and let him go off. I get that he also missed a few of those by a smidge  but when he connected, wow. That way he just dropped it right in the back corner of the end zone to Sutton was a thing of beauty.

Could have swore someone was saying he couldn't throw a long ball earlier in the year...

LMAO. I didn't see that but holy f***. Like seriously, you're trying to blank a team with Joe Burrow for 10 minutes to get into the playoffs instead of getting the two point conversion.

This team deserves to miss the playoffs. Sean Payton is a problem.
Deserves to miss? This is ridiculous. They are being forced to win a tough game to get in, shouldn't it be that way? This narrative about how they should have won the last two games is so false. They played two good teams on the road and had a shot to win. That's the progress you need to see. And no matter who the Chiefs line up it's still good for the development of the team, have to handle the pressure of must win games. Yeah it would have been nice to already be in but this is just more growth happening.

During the broadcast, they also said he has the most passing yards while throwing on the run. Peyton really needs to incorporate more roll outs and less screens later in games. I know you can't completely abandon the screen plays, or they'll blitz you to death, but they gotta find a better balance.

Also, please more Mims in motion plays. His speed makes him a threat every play.

Whatever brings more Mims, less Franklin, I’m down with that.

Also agree with that. He missed some super easy passes late in the game as well.

I mean he missed Mims and Sutton twice at the end of the game on deep passes where they were wide open. He’s looked decent this year, but his deep ball is inconsistent at best currently.

I mean as frustrating as the last two weeks have been, if you showed me Nix's stats for the year and told me the Broncos would be fighting for a playoff spot I'd be thrilled.

Like I said, he’s been good this year. But I think his deep ball is still a bit of a weakness of his.

Nix's EPA per drop back is still putrid so I'm still needing to see more out of him in order to annoint him Denver's long term QB.

However, I will say the kid does look like a gamer. He seems to thrive in comeback situations.
Can't render a final verdict on any QB draftee after one season. Look at Stroud regressing this year, but he's answered the call so far.

It's 100% this, can't throw on time doesn't process the defenses/blitz packages fast enough.

It will interesting to see where he gets drafted after the draft process. Some of his deficiencies will be exposed through the evaluation process.

Correct. I had the Broncos finishing between 6-11 and 8-9 prior to the season.

Utter blasphemy.

Final verdicts can - and were - rendered after Nix's first game.

Pay attention, sir. :teach2:

Well said.

I think it's weird people dumping on Nix as if the weapons he has on offense are even close to equal to the team he's playing against on a nightly basis. He's got Sutton and then . . . that's pretty much it since Mims isn't/hasn't been really used as the #2WR since the start of the season.

So imagine the Broncos being 9-7 AND he's only got 1 guy that he can really count on to throw to...it's pretty frikkin' good if you ask me.

We played a good football yesterday that's got the best WR in the game AND several TE threats that we don't even come close to having AND they needed OT to beat us at home. Not sure what people are expecting of Nix but it certainly doesn't sound realistic to me.

Folks are dumping on Nix but the pass defense just really sucked that game. Was checking out the PFF scores for each player - the worst 3 defensive performances were ALL by our defensive backs. Nik Bonnito was also shut down the entire game and nowhere to be heard from.

The only way we win that game with such a porous defense is to get into a shootout with Joe Burrow/Chase/Higgins. That’s a terrible way to win against the Bengals and really unfair to ask from Bo Nix as a rookie starter. Our running game was non-existent outside of McLaughlin. TEs were again horrible. There just wasn’t much there.
