If you can expect the WR to catch 100% of passes that come near him regardless of deflections, you should expect your QB to make 100% of easy short passes without getting them deflected.

Or you could show the smallest amount of consistency and honesty and just admit that both guys made a bad play.
Bo didn't make a bad play. Our trash WR did though. And the WR doesn't need to be 100% accurate, but they can't be popping the ball up like that.

No one thinks a WR should make 100% of their catches, but they sure as hell shouldn't be batting balls into the air that's hit both of their hands.

If Bo didn't make a bad play why did a Ravens player contact the ball before it got to the WR? Was that on purpose?

Quarterbacks shouldn't be hitting 300 pound defenders with the ball on short passes in wide open space. It is what it is.

Doesn't matter if you hit the defender if it was still a catchable ball. And that ball was very catchable. Not a bad play about the QB horrible play by the wide receiver.

I have called the WR trash over and over and over again both today and on many other days.

You just can't conceive of the idea that more than one guy can screw up on the same play. But that's what happened. Move on with your life.
2 people can f*** up on a play. However, this wasn't one of those plays. This was 100% on the WR, and can probably guess he'd admit it himself. You can't do that at the NFL level.

Of course it matters if you hit the defender.

You're literally arguing that the QB hitting a guy he wasn't throwing it to isn't his own damn fault. That's what you're doing right now.

It's the WR's fault Bo Nix hit a defensive lineman on a short, wide open pass. Got it. Glad we cleared that up.

I don't give two shits who the ball hits before it gets to the wide receiver if the goddamn thing is still catchable.
"Catchable" is a spectrum, not a binary. It's less catchable if it hits something the QB wasn't throwing it at on the way to the target.

Just like a goalie is less likely to stop a shot if it gets deflected on the way in.

You know I'm right.

You're absolutely not right. It doesn't matter if it's less catchable or more catchable as long as it's still catchable. Anything that's catchable should not end up in an interception. The only reason it ended up being an interception was because our wide receiver was terrible. Any other wide receiver either makes the catch or swats it down. Only one player there was not on NFL level and it was Humphreys.

Hitting a 300 pound lineman on a short, easy throw is not an NFL level play. Period.

Bo's part in the play was bad.

Then Humphrey's part in the play was bad.

But you can't accept any criticism of Bo so you just ignore the fact that there's no excuse for making such a poor throw.

Criticism of plays that matter, like the over throw on 4th down is warranted, but that INt is bullshit.

It's not, though. It's not okay to hit a 300 pound lineman on a short throw in the open field. It's still a bad throw even if it falls incomplete or even if Humphrey catches it.

And there were multiple overthrows on 4th down, not just one.

Again It doesn't matter if you the defender if you get the ball to the receiver. Which he did.

It's never okay to get your passes deflected because you can't control the path of the ball after the deflection. It's basic common sense.

You're the quarterback. You're responsible for the path your passes take in the air to the target. If someone who plays for the other team hits the pass before it gets to where you're throwing it, you've done a poor job regardless of what happens after the deflection.

Maybe your guy comes down with it anyway. If that's the case, you screwed up and he bailed you out.

Maybe it falls incomplete. If that's the case, you screwed up and got away with it.

Maybe it gets intercepted. If that's the case, you screwed up and paid the price.

In this case, Bo screwed up and then Humphrey screwed up. Mistakes compounded and we paid the price collectively.

Crazy how much everyone trying to debate over this one. It was a loss no matter what happens with these plays. It's just one very expected loss, the key is to put it past them and see what they can do in KC.

Just loggin in for the first time Sunday night expecting a flameball roasting of Vance Joseph and instead it’s panties in a wad over a hot potato ball? Wow.

We just lack talent all around on this team - totally outclassed today for sure. This is pretty much year one of rebuild. I’m ready for a 1-2 years of meh before we get like $150M cap room or whatever obnoxious number it is when Russ’s dead cap is gone. If Nix is still around at that point this team is gonna be legit.

Exactly this.

Anyone with half a brain can see that the supporting cast, mainly skill positions, around a rookie QB is trash. You're going to have games, especially against arguably the most talented team in the league, that you get lit up.

The WRs outside Sutton suck, the RBs are atrocious and the TE group is possibly the worst in the league. Until you upgrade those positions, there will be games like this where you get outclassed.

This is a complete rebuild. Unfortunately we got some wins and now people think this should be a playoff team or something.

Great news there, getting something for Browning and clearing the confusion with the Coop extension. Brian Burns got almost twice that for similar production and impact.

And the Russ contract hit is almost done, 32m more to come in 2025 but less than 53m this year. With cap growth and probably spending even less on QB next year they will be fine. A lot of these top of the market deals are proving to be lousy investments so being limited in free agency probably isn't making a difference. Unless you really think Patrick and Simmons not being around cost them wins.
