Trading guys that hit as good as Smith did year 1 to get a rental is what teams that don’t play in the big boy market do. They won’t re-sign him either. Ricketts is a f***, doesn’t matter.
God bless TLEH. Can't you take a day off from your doom boner? Let us enjoy this for a few days before you bring us down.

I mean... the ceiling right now in Chicago is a mediocre Cubs team seemingly not willing to spend big. We're in a sports winter here.

But Illini football is fun!

Cubs are poised to be by far the best team in Chicago with barely any effort on their part, and they're making weak money-saving trades and signing whatevers in free agency (okay, this is a bit much, Tucker is good, but still though).

.... yay....

I don't really care who's on the roster for the next decade, truth be told.
Pretty much.

Meanwhile, it finally became public that Justin Ishbia wanted to buy the team (had heard this privately about a year ago). That's had me depressed all week knowing he'll end up with the Twins.

I’ll never understand baseball fan’s acceptance of steroids. The juice didn’t turn them into amazing hitters out of nowhere but their numbers were heavily inflated. The league wanted records to be broken and they did it by cheating.

The difference between Ken Griffey Jr. and Sosa/McGuire was nothing more than steroids. Bonds was a 40hr guy until all of a sudden he was the deadliest hitter in the history of the game.

Sosa was a major force behind saving baseball after the strike, and he roided up at a time when loads of people were doing it and borderline the entire business side of things, media, and fans were willingly ignoring it. It's not like today where it's supposedly well-tested against, established as a punishable offense, and seemingly rare. I don't get still being mad at players in that scenario two+ decades later. Might as well be mad at the loads of players that used greenies way back in the day.

ND didn't exactly have the toughest scheduled, but the only team Indiana beat that had an above .500 record was Michigan. I'd be surprised if they lost by less than 10 points tonight.
