Just Jansen with a different quirk. Philips should be the closer come playoff time. Roberts keeps rolling out Kimbrel hoping he pulls out of the dive at some point.
Jansen at his worst was never as bad as Kimbrel has been this year.

Kimbrel's had a great career, but it's come to an end. Wish Roberts and Dodger brain trust realized that.

The problem was definitely failing to replace Jansen with someone younger. I didn't understand the move for Kimbrel from the start. But if Philips continues to play well, it might just be a wash.

The huge difference with Dustin May from pre-injury and now is that he has begun striking players out in his rehab stint and last night. If that continues with his velocity and movement, that is Ace material
He started on that train last season before he got hurt which is what made it so devastating to the rotation (as we saw with the patchwork rotation in the playoffs).

He was at 13.7 K/9 in his 23 innings last season which would have been the highest K/9 of any starter in the majors last season.

It's great to see he's picked that right back up.

Does Stan Kroenke, or Phil Anschutz own a baseball team? Maybe they can take a shot at the Angels. Arte was actually an owner that spent money which isn't the problem the issue is he gave gazillions of dollars to over the hill players that lasts a billion years yikes. That Rendon contract dear lawd. And now Trout's contract is starting to look horrendous if he can't stay healthy. Dudes back is slowly giving out literally after carrying this franchise for all these years. Ohtani is a gonner that's a given. Well I guess as they say, it can only go up from here can't get any lower than this.

Arte's problem is he is all about marketing (that's his business). So the big-name hunting is his deal. Shiny toy to market and prop up for customers/fans -- to put a big picture of on the entrance to stadium and get fans in the seats. Meanwhile ignoring scouting, player development, minor leagues, international, etc.

The guy on the street with a fancy car, suit and maybe even awesome pool/backyard -- meanwhile inside the house it's falling apart structural wise, termites, plumbing/pipes a mess, AC doesn't work, roof leaks, cockroaches/rats/mites, rotting wood/floors, etc.

doubtful either can legally.... which is why Denver is the territory for Kroenke...as well as Altitude being its own separate RSN, AEG/ASM Direct is more arena based than team based at this point

I saw this BS call and I couldn't believe it. I caught for many years, and blocking the plate is a bit of an art, and Hedges did it expertly. You give the guy the back half of the plate that is the path the runner needs to take, and that is all he should get from the catcher.

Also, what is up with all the head-first slides into home. Catchers should be feeding these guys their shin guards.

If anyone is keeping track at home that is now 6 times he's been cut since being the #10 overall pick in 2018. That is pretty impressive.

Talent only gets you so far in the NFL. You have to love football and live, eat & sleep it. Rosen simply does not have the hunger and love of football to be an NFL player. It's surprising he's been able to stick around this long. But backup (more like 3rd string) QB is the one spot in the NFL where talent alone can get you a roster spot and paycheck for years holding a clipboard.

Just good enough to hold a temporary spot, but not good enough to be kept on a team long term. Hope he's saving those checks.

Was reportedly on his phone 24/7 on his visit to Michigan
The whole hot-tub thing at UCLA
Falling in the draft due to reportedly poor interviews
There were 9 mistakes made ahead of me comments on draft night

But yeah, just gets looks because his arm-talent is undeniable. But he has nothing else, I'm guessing this is the end of the line.

He continues the really bad results of highly rated SoCal QB's post-Palmer (as far as NFL careers)

Leinart
Sanchez
Claussen
Rosen
Darnold
Barkley
Costello

I think all or most 5-star recruits coming out of HS, four of them were 1st round picks in the NFL and not a single good career.

Maybe Young and Stroud can turn the fortunes around this year.

QB's are really difficult to evaluate pre-draft.

So many guys seemingly have all the attributes, but they played on elite high school and college teams.

Hard to tell whether or not they're a product of their surroundings, or if they have "it". Most don't.

One thing that is imperative when evaluating QBs coming out of college is taping a $100 bill on one of the last few pages of the playbook.

Is UCLA still observing the pandemic attendance rules? It appears they are playing in front of friends and family only at the Rose Bowl today. The football culture in the Pac-12 sucks. I want ASU to leave and join the Big 12 where they at least give a damn about college football.

Can we please stop putting Pac12 teams high in the pre-season rankings? The conference is No longer capable of competing with the big boys and probably will cease to exist by the end of the decade.

It was a good run but the Pac12 is closer to the AAC than it is to the SEC.

Not even as good as the AAC. Where is the Pac-12's Clemson? Oregon thinks they are getting into the B1G with the kind of performance they had today. If I was the B1G, I would think about rescinding UCLA's invite and taking a different school. UCLA adds nothing to the B1G.

Yeah but USC does, and USC and UCLA were a package deal from what I gather.

I personally don’t see any value in any more PAC-12 schools. SC was the crown jewel.

UCLA will be a Purdue caliber program on the Big Ten.
