The Dodgers hit .298 in the division series.
They hit .258 in the LCS
They are hitting .213 in the World Series.
If the ball truly favored hitters, they should be hitting better, not worse, so there goes that argument. They aren't getting it done, plain and simple.
Houston is hitting 29 points below their regular season average. The Dodgers, 36 points. Doesn't seem like an advantage either way to me, both teams are affected equally.
You can't just use average. I appreciate the stats you provided but average does not factor in how hard, or how far they are going.
I can't do a lot of research here at work, but you state that the astros batting avg is down, yet they have hit more homeruns in these 5 games than the other 2 series combined.
Just to be clear, I'm not blaming only the balls for the dodgers trailing in the series. It's just a bullshit move to change the balls in the first place.
The only analogy I can think of would if in the Superbowl you had the best rushing team with the worst pass defense vs the best passing team with the worst run defense. But for this game they are changing the ball to where it's so heavy that they can't throw the ball further than 5 yards. Would there not be a clear advantage to the team with great rushing? Afterall, they are both using the same ball.
