You should see some of the disgusting flavors they have here, spicy chicken feet, chili garlic sardine etc

Oh yea. I am in a chip club so I get offered different types of around the world flavours every month. I see the flavours and I wonder why I’m paying so much because I always skip them. Like some make somewhat sense, like butter chicken, and others you wonder why we haven’t had the second coming of Christ yet, like squid ink and seaweed. Like who is thinking “yea this tastes good (to begin with)” and then thinks “this would be amazing as a potato/corn/rice chip!”?

Another rejection email with no interview. Yeesh.

At least you got a rejection. I stopped counting a while ago. I don't get rejections, I don't get anything. The fake job thing has been an issue for YEARS not months. It's immensely frustrating and I admit that at this point I've given up finding something online or via electronic means. I've been selling personal possessions and doing gig work. Helene and Milton have f***ed me over for earnings over the last three weeks and at this point I don't know why I'm still trying.

Oof. That sounds pretty awful man. I've also been kicking around the idea of selling possessions to supplement. It's pretty nasty out there.

Relationships are a huge factor in getting hired at a lot of companies.

When my wife got her first job at Paychex, it was because a former co-worker reached out. And she told my wife to find some job openings she was interested in and email them to her so her former co-worker could suggest my wife as a candidate. That is not only because she got a recruiting bonus, but that the vast majority of outside hires are suggested by Paychex employees.

And all my applications lately have gotten the form rejection email of "thanks but we are interviewing other candidates" variety.

Thankfully I don't need a new job. But, it is scary to think about what will happen if I do need a new job...

Interesting you say that. Got a text from a former coworker today that the position that supervises him is open and that I should apply. Just finished a few minutes ago. It's not remote at all, unfortunately, which was a big goal for me, but at the low end it would be a couple thousand dollar raise. On the high end of their scale would be about 21k.

So much of the job market feels like that now, and while it can be fine- I’ve always just put my head down and done my job well. When it sucked I left. I don’t really do people, frustrating how important that is.

Haven’t posted in a bit, but- I still love the day to day of the post office, but our contract ended in 2023. Well, our union rep just announced the new deal- 1.2% annual raises.

Are you f***ing kidding me? f***ing everyone should know that inflation has historically been about 3%, nvm the Covid craziness, so 1.2% is an absolute joke.

Renfroe ran into a wall, knows he’s gonna get voted out, and likely took some bribe to try and get this deal passed. Absolutely no way, a complete slap in the face to your day to day workers making sure you get your checks, your votes, your precious Amazon bullshit.

Sorry, /rant. The sun will shine tomorrow and I’ll deliver those damn packages with a smile. Just wish I could eat out from time to time, order some bullshit from Amazon myself.

This dystopian world. We need a 3rd party in 2028. The people’s party, the basic human dignity party.

So I had an appointment yesterday, and we were discussing the job market, and essentially how I can work my job without breaking my hand (again). I was asked what construction jobs I have done and what different areas I have knowledge in. At first I was thinking that maybe they might want to hire me to do a renovation for them. Instead they floored me by telling me about a job teaching new people getting into the construction field.

But also this would happen:

Understandable. I was in a fast food place and heard the counter person tell a customer asking about their order that “you’ve asked me three f***ing times, that ain’t making it happen faster” which had me wondering how long they have before snapping.

When I worked fast food I did something similar to that. Then when they got offended and wanted to see the manager, I said I’ll go get them. I f***ed off for 15 minutes before I came back and asked them what the issue was. Because I was the manager
