I actually don't even watch hockey. I just have a DZ avatar and jump in whichever wagon is rolling. "Bickel is useless", "Richards is useless", "Stepan is useless", "Gaborik is invisible", "that Rick Nash."

I've disguised myself pretty well.

Especially when it comes to hockey because down here I don't really have any hockey friends. I just giggle at them because they probably get **** on at work by their boss, then at home by their gf or wife, maybe they got pulled over and got **** on by the cop so they feel the need to come here and **** on other people. It makes them feel better because in real life they're insecure and probably not well-liked.

You know, I went to the lounge section and posted "Hey guys, I'm new to this section, what's up?" I'm thinking it's a casual section of HF to come and shoot the **** with other posters. While most are pretty nice..ehh a good amount are really nice, someone literally responded with, "No **** you're new. And no one cares." LOL I literally had no words for that response. I wasn't aware I was walking into the yard at some prison. I get fuzzy when I meet genuinely nice people here. A poster from the Canadiens board (a global mod) answered some questions for me about the Habs since I'm GMing them in our keeper league. He was so ****ing nice I got up and hugged my kids. I just wish others would follow by that example. If someone doesn't know as much about hockey than you and still tries to post, be kind to them, don't **** all over them because they are making the conscious decision to take time from their day to be here and talk about the same thing everyone else is here to talk about. We're all here because we want to be here, not because we have to. I think a place like this should be here for us to have fun and make friends and get along, not to **** on people and try to be the smarty pants of the year. This is a place of fun. Not our workplace where it's understandable to be grumpy and bitter.

You guys all make it fun to be here and you're the reasons why I come here every day and invest so much time to HF because there are a good few people who "get it" and make coming here truly worth it.

:cheers: Definitely man. I don't need hockey friends. I have my dad (DoTheBlue), my g/f who I turned in to a diehard, and HFBoards.

The part about the guy from the lounge made me lol. That place is too cliquey for my liking. Prison yard, hahahaha.
 
I'm on here because there aren't too many people to talk hockey with where I live.

Yeah man, I'll go there and post once in a while but that **** is straight to ridiculous.

I like the friends I've made here, and the haters are just hilarious :laugh: But it's the internet. The place where some people with little man syndrome come to feel like a big boy and others actually just want to have a good time and make some buds.

Sorry for the novel by the way, I started typing and couldn't stop.

That's great. I should've known since you both always have the best avatars/sig combos.
 
I'm actually kind of glad that none of the people I associate with IRL know of this site. It's kinda like a little personal refuge.

And this. I've turned my two best friends into pretty casual fans, and they're more knowledgeable about the sport than everybody else I know, so i'm forced to retreat to the internet to satiate my hockey discussing needs.

**** haha. was so excited for the medal of honor war fighter campaign, and it sucks. it was really funny and weird actually. i feel that i saw/played this before. i dunno where, it might be the movie, act of valor. but i just coulnd't get into like other campaigns. i'm a sucker for single player, but this was disappointing. literally beat it in 4 hours.
 
Also i'm sure there has to be other people on my campus who go on HFBoards. It's very possibile me and another dude have passed each other, without knowing we've had debates about the Rangers on the interweb.
 
Yeah I met one kid down here that liked the Lightning...I was like..."Good enough!" and had a nice talk with him about hockey at some bar in Tampa. But things got awkward after he started saying things like, "Well Stampkos is the best player in the world because he can score 80 goals every year and not even Andreychuk can get that many when they were both rookies the same year and Stampkos had 93."

Then I'm usually just like...

That always happens. Things start out cool then they go full blown homer Pejorative Slur.

Happened about 3 times with guys from work who are Flyer fans. :nod:

My Dad is the angry Ranger fan. When the other team scores he's usually like, "**** this ****ing ****!!! They ****ing suck and they aint worth ****. They're gaabaage!"

I can't even imagine the stuff he would say here to the Snarky Markies.

Now I'm not saying I'm the King of hockey, but I've been watching religiously (and I mean religiously) since 1992 (was sooner than that but I was way too young and really didn't know what was going on until 1992) And so when I meet these fans sometimes who are straight ridiculous like; "Dude..****in' Mark Messier, you remember him? You remember John VanBeezlbub? I have a kick-ass Tony Amonta jersey..It's pretty sweet..." I honestly don't know what to say.

Ha! Yeah you are. I'm guilty myself but must say he takes it to a whole new crazy level. He's super New York and when we go to the Garden it's something pretty magical. :laugh:

Yeah we have to be toned down around here lots of people don't like the negative Nellys.
 
I don't even have dumb Rangers fans to argue with here. Just dumb Devils fans.
