So glad I missed the Superbowl this year. Watching everybody so engulfed in the god damn commercials compounds for me that the true religion of this country is consumerism without a shadow of a doubt. Usually my misanthropy skyrockets right after the Superbowl.

Football :dunno: Commercials annoy me. the consumers are reduced in many forms to simple temptations and other behavioral traits and treated to be without rationality. The consumerism and commercialism is most naked during these sporting events. Many facepalms.

I looked at a few commercials just to see who companies found worthy of pandering to this year and Chrysler put out some ****** Jeep commercial full of jingoistic garbage. American flags everywhere, troops coming home from battle, panning over a field of grain. Makes you feel like you personally stormed the beaches of Normandy.

And I can't be mad at Chrysler because they're just pandering to a market that has already been developed. Their job is to sell cars and the concepts of nationalism and American superiority have been pounded into the brains of Americans from the age of 5.

Car commercials, TRUCKS commercials are the worst. The bottom line is basically, if you don't want to buy, drive and **** this car, then you're not a man and you don't have a ****. Voices of the voice actors are so deep that if it had no context to it, you'd think it's a humorous bacon cheeseburger commercial where they're trying to make the bacon sound seductive. It's basically IRRELEVANT FACT, IRRELEVANT FACT, DO YOU WANT TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK? IRRELEVANT FACT, EGO BOOST, OH YEAAAA. Ford.

Of course. The RAM ad was pretty bad too.

It's interesting to see the discrepancy between advertisements aimed at men and advertisements aimed at women. The ads directed towards men are all ego boosts and the ones directed towards women are basically designed to destroy their self-confidence in an attempt to convince them that the only way to regain it is to buy their product.

I know nothing has happened yet but I am obligated to cover my bases just to be safe.

This will not descend into any political debates. Take my word for it.

That's one reason why the American spending habits (Canada too) are so bad. The culture that breeds a lack of self-confidence, competent and well adjust adults and then slam them with consumerism aimed at addressing these issues.
