OT: OT Thread, Winter Edition(2nd Fall for Georgians)

Big change in women’s curling - Brianne Harris goes from Einarson’s team to Cameron’s. I’m curious to see if Einarson will retain Birchard.

Pretty cool Brandon Bobcats won their first men's National Championship in Volleyball as an 8 seed. A few years back my son was playing for the 204 Volleyball Club in Winnipeg and BVC (Brandon Volleyball Club) was coached by two of the players on the Bobcats and they were the nicest guys and so good with the kids. One of them was Philipp Lauter and the guy always had a smile on his face. I guess he is a senior now and he served on Championship point. Couldn't be happier for that guy.

Visiting Downtown Edmonton today and it's not so bad. The lot where I parked my car is surrounded by security guards dressed as homeless people. The City Centre Mall has a security guard in the bathroom. And it is obvious that the streets are clean as all the garbage is piled up in front of every business to be cleaned when they open up. And while walking around, I wasn't accosted once, more like three times. Reminds me of home...

Someone left Gretzky an extra shoe for some reason...

I was there two weeks ago... my exact phase about it was ""Somehow, Edmonton manages to be more 'Winnipeg' than Winnipeg is"

That's really interesting to me as I haven't been to Edmonton for quite a while. The last time I was there I was at a conference downtown and they had kept it quite 'civilized'. They had done this by having foot patrols walking around and shooing the homeless back north of the main downtown area. Their main homeless shelter at the time (think Siloam Mission) was about four blocks north of the business area and they managed to keep those folks away from the gentrified areas of downtown. It seems that has ceased to happen based on your description. I wonder what happened. :sarcasm:

I parked just north of Rogers Centre and when I got back to my car, one of the security guards dressed up as a homeless person looked like he ODed. Very sad...

Oh yes, some homeless person tried to get into the Mall, and two security guards whisked him away... :dunno:

I walked around the entire downtown area and there were homeless people and junkies around, just like back in Winnipeg, but the whole area smelled like my hippie neighbours smoking "cilantro". I also found people here aren't very friendly. But I don't go to downtown Winnipeg to compare, so I can't comment about that...

Hope this is the right thread to post this. Just finished making my first Crokinole board. It came out a bit wonky and I made quite a few mistakes in the process, but I'm still happy with the result, as this was my first go at something like this:

It's a fond memory of mine playing this with my Canadian buddies at their cabin at the Lake of the Woods. Now I have a piece of Canada at home. Just tried it out with a couple of friends and it turned out really great, better than expected, really. Wonderful drinking game I must say.

Thought I'd share this here because I was going for a Jets/Curling colour scheme. I've got two more in the works as gifts for family & friends, which will hopefully turn out a little bit better. I can keep you posted if anybody's interested.

till the weekend when there's a potential for snowflakes lol...
Meh, most websites don't seem to have snow in their forecast anymore, and regardless moisture is needed over there in a desperate way. Just be thankful you don't live in Calgary where it can snow 365 days of the year 🤣🤣🤣😳😳😳🤮🤮🤮
