Good pizza in NY isn't a given. There is not a single good pizza place in Albany. Chinese too for that matter

Putnam County and upwards is a completely different world. I lived with a host family one year in western NY while playing juniors. Host mom wanted me to feel like home, so she ordered pizza. Pudgies square pie...I give her credit for trying.

I live in Putnam county and the pizza and Chinese is a million miles better than what there is in Albany

Nothing wrong with square slices. Sheet Pizza in Buffalo is ****ing amazing and I still hold my opinion that it's better than any I had whilst living in New Jersey and Brooklyn, save two places. One was in downtown Manhattan, my dad and I would meet there for some lunch a few days a week. Then a place 5 blocks from me in Brooklyn that was GOAT and still is.

the place we went for that meetup was pretty solid.. Even though I recommended it I'm having trouble remembering the name

amazing pizza (maybe it's amazing cuz I've never been there sober) is called Jumbo Slice here in DC. It's like what, a few dollars for an absolute massive slice:

Where do Motorino and Artichoke Pizza rank for all you NY natives? Those places fueled me on my last visit, can't wait to get back and get a couple of Grandmother pizza slices and take in a game at the garden.

I remember Maruca’s being the go-to pizza place while spending Memorial Day weekend at Seaside. Drinking beer all day + Maruca’s = Very happy camper.

Putnam is fine. I grew up there, and while the best pizza I ever had was actually in the Bronx, there are some very good places in that area. There are even some decent places in Poughkeepsie. Instead of saying Putnam and upwards, it should probably be Ulster and upwards. At least east of the Hudson. On the other side of the river... it's like the frontier.

In my time away from NY, I've met many, many people from NYC or the area. I've never once heard two people claim the best pizza from the same spot. There are simply too many people and too many pizzerias to rank these things on an even footing with other people.

I like the clam pie at Motorino. Artichoke's crab slice is great too.

Got to drink with everyone's favorite prospect (Kevin Hayes) after the Beanpot victory. Was able to drink out of the pot. He won MVP of the tournament.

Still hungover. And probably will contract mono since i'd estimate anywhere from 1000-2000 BC students came out to drink from the pot.

Worth it. :yo:

How has nobody mentioned New Park in Queens. GOAT pizza AINEC

Prontos on 48th st is pretty damn good too.

Montreal surprisingly has some good pizza places. Last place I expected.

Pennsylvania pizza WOAT. Just awful

Fixed it for you.

I like how all we talk about here is food and music. I can dig it lirl.

Am I completely off, or do these places sound like they fall into a different pizza category (there are 5, non-comparable) than a regular NY-style pizzeria?

No you're right. When I think Motorino and Artichoke, I don't think traditional NY-style pizza. Motorino does smaller artisanal pies with funky toppings. Artichoke is probably closer to NY-style than Motorino, but they don't push you to try their cheese slice. It's all about their artichoke slice and crab slice .
