I've got a question about noise bylaws. There's some neighbors that moved in to the neighborhood, and they have a chopper motorcycle that he insists on having idle for about 10 mins at 5:30 am EVERY DAY. It makes my entire house rattle, and I know I'm not the only one it's bothering.

Do I have a leg to stand on here? Seems it's far too early to have that kind of noise pollution. Is there any recourse here?

It's probably just the gradual process of me turning into an insufferable curmudgeon

I think you can complain through the 311 app, but honestly unless there is more than one complaint I doubt anything will ever happen. I used it before to complain about unhooked trailers being parked by work that were left for days. I did get a call from bylaw and they told me they wouldn't come out unless there were more complaints. So I got some guys from work to put complaints in too. They then ticketed the trailer.

Also I do wonder who from the City is working at 530am to come and do a check lol.

Lol, well, I know my direct neighbors are also hating it, so maybe I can rally a phone in campaign. I never expect it to change, but god would it ever be nice.

Nothing really ever changes. The neighborhood dicks will always be that. We have people here using the front street as a drag strip blowing through just one block from a school zone. They speed through there as well. Noise I almost don't even care about by now. People that want to have noisy vehicles will rev intentionally. They'll do it much more if anybody has ever complained. Its the troll human type thing.

City doesn't give a rats ass. Increase property tax 10%, less services, just call 311 to complain about anything and its the quickest way that nothing gets done.

We've been pretty flexible, so have most people in the neighborhood. Around here if an outdoor party is raging at 1am we mention it to the people next chance we get. Seems like granting considerable grace is seen as somewhat reasonable even by people partying outside with stereo blasting till 1am on a work day. But if you ever complained at 11 they would make sure to crank it louder.

Not at all on the cumrudgeon part or the complaint. If you live in Edmonton, we now apparently have a noise bylaw that they will actually give tickets our for, after years of offering off mild warnings, so I would contact city bylaws and they should be able to send someone out your way since the time is nailed down. Too many of these jokers thinking that the loud noise from their machines somehow compensates for other things, if you know what I mean.;)

Here you go, email your concern to the email address provided in the link. 92 dBa is the max for any motorcycle at idle. I don't know if that's a typo but it says it's a $1000 fine at the bottom of the page.

I hope you resolve this. I got crappy neighbors but no one this extreme except one idiot have a party last until 4 am. Canada is not like Japan where neighbors actually respect each other.

I generally don't care about neighbors having a party on weekends, but I had one that was partying every night of the week.

Just as I was about to complain I found out they were being evicted as there were numerous complaints.

Kudos to Nick Taylor, the frist Canadian to win the Canadian Open in like 68 years or so. 70 foot eagle putt on the 4th playoff hole
That putt was something else. It was starting to look like that tournament was going to be decided by who screwed up a hole the least and then he made that amazing shot. Stuff of legends.

What a great sporting moment. One of those, "where were you when Nick Taylor sunk that miracle putt." Feel fortunate to have seen it in the moment.
